'Tis the season...
Maybe a little shock therapy would help?:
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Shock_therapy_treats_internet_addiction_in_1221.html
Posted by JOS on from Oak Park 12/22 at 09:05 AMI could use some type of shock therapy...I feel very ragey...and western man stays asleep...! Lin Yutang always thought westerners were barbaric...he was saying this in the 30’s, which is not all that long ago...yet...we show no signs of learning, transcending that which draws so much world criticism...addictions in many varieties...Yutang knew the world was going to the shit-house when he looked out his window one day and saw a Chinese band in the street playing onward christian soldiers. At least the Chinese were musical!

One blocks out the first 40 years of life and the other shoots his buddies in the face.I wish W would light up and tip one back in honor of Hank.
Actually I wish he never sobered up!
He’s a poster child for everything that can go wrong in salvation through sobriety.Posted by Tommy on from I live by the River 12/22 at 01:20 PMTommy...I agree. He should have stayed so drunk that he was incapable of doing anything, BUT only the Congress has the Constitutional right to declare war and kill people. Maybe it is they who should be incapacitated, incarcerated, castrated, fumigated.....
JOS...looks like a good link. I will check it out.
joe...thank you for the statistics about the Iraqi children on yesterday’s post.
Posted by RMJ on from Mickey Z 4 Prez Hdqts 12/22 at 04:44 PMHello RMJ...statistics?...yeah...to the authorities, the rulers of the universe...we’re all just a number...I’ve never been fond of math.
Posted by joe maine on from 12/22 at 05:28 PMHello Expendables. I just saw Charlie Wilson’s War. It was entertaining and well-made. However, for those without a clue about US foreign policy (read: 99.9% of humans), it was nothing more than non-factual pro-American propaganda and I wish the film was never made.

Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 12/22 at 05:43 PMHere’s a headline that makes the local tire shop blowout sale section of the newspaper seem profound.
Tony Blair, the former UK prime minister and now a Middle East peace envoy, has converted to Catholicism, church officials have said.
Blair, previously a member of the Anglican church, was received into the Catholic church in a private mass on Friday held by Cardinal Cormac Murphy O’Connor.Posted by joe maine on from 12/22 at 05:45 PMMickey...6...I don’t know how everyone else feels about this...I seldom watch tv or movies...yet I’m still Tom-Hanked out...too many movies, too many roles...not enough substance...[my opinion of course]
Posted by joe of maine on from 12/22 at 05:52 PMI agree, Joe. After his “patriotic” nonsense with Saving Private Ryan, I chalked him off my list. I only saw this flick today because I missed Sweeney Todd.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 12/22 at 05:54 PMAbout movies...has anyone been hearing anything about “Redacted”?
Has anyone else been following the case of the health insurance company that denied a young woman a transplant operation. She died. Now it looks like the company will be charged with manslaughter - should be charged with murder!
Off topic… I need tech support. My 5 year old Epson printer just died. What is the best, low cost printer I should buy? I don’t need a lot of functions - just black and color printing and a scanner.
Posted by RMJ on from Mickey Z 4 Prez Hdqts 12/22 at 07:06 PMRMJ...check out the people at SMall Dog Electronics...they’re over you way...I’m quite sure they’re straight shooters. I think in Waitsfield, do mailorder.

Posted by Tommy on from I live by the River 12/23 at 09:24 AMSharing christmas stories....
Strange, indeed, that you should not have suspected that your universe and its contents were only dreams, visions, fiction! Strange, because they are so frankly and hysterically insane - like all dreams: a God who could make good children as easily as bad, yet preferred to make bad ones; who could have made every one of them happy, yet never made a single happy one; who made them prize their bitter life, yet stingily cut it short; who gave his angels eternal happiness unearned, yet required his other children to earn it; who gave his angels painless lives, yet cursed his other children with biting miseries and maladies of mind and body; who mouths justice and invented hell - mouths mercy and invented hell - mouths Golden Rules, and forgiveness multiplied by seventy times seven, and invented hell; who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, then tries to shuffle the responsibility for man’s acts upon man, instead of honorably placing it where it belongs, upon himself; and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him!...

recites fictictious scripts/lies......well, here’s what he has to say…Thompson: Yeah, I think it is going well from all those whose opinions I value who have come back from over there.
Posted by joe of maine on from 12/23 at 02:43 PMThanks for the tips, joe and Mickey. I am checking them out.
Posted by RMJ on from Mickey Z 4 Prez Hdqts 12/23 at 03:35 PMMichele and I just saw Juno. It was excellent.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 12/23 at 04:39 PMExpendable Helga is back - and promises to comment at least every 2 or 3 days or so. She has visited the site regularly, though.
Before I forget and in spite of everything: A Very Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for a Better 2008 to you, JOS, Joe of Maine, Tommy, Rosemarie and Mickey from a quite cool Daylesford (68F today although summer began on 1 December)
‘Here’s a headline that makes the local tire shop blowout sale section of the newspaper seem profound.’ My thoughts exactly, Joe! And it seems certain Catholics have voiced opposition because Blair’s views on gay rights, to give only one example, are too ‘liberal’. Hilarious!
Re tech support, Rosemarie (#10): all the best. Our computer had a thorough make-over in July, and although we are on broadband, everything seems to have slowed down and our email system disconnects regularly.
