  2. Hi James...Quiet here today. Nice article about joe you link to.

    Last night I got about a foot of snow and another foot is predicted for tomorrow. That means that there will be 6 foot drifts.  If you don’t hear from me for awhile send in the rescue team - OK, there is no rescue team. Up here, it’s every man for himself.

Well, Happy New Year to James, Rosemarie and Mickey, Michele and his family in Texas!  In Australia we’ve just had the hottest 31 December on record - now it’s 1:20 pm on 1 January 2008 and almost as hot as yesterday - 104F.  I think I’d rather have the odd bit of snow, but not a foot of the stuff, Rosemarie!  Here’s hoping no rescue teams are needed ...

  6. Happy New Year from Shanghai.

    It got below Zero here last night but no snow or anything. My UK upbringing and non-drinking combined to give me the idea that New Year is about other people stepping up their non-doing non-thinking ways. Often in spectacular or violent ways.

    In the UK, 80% of the population should wear an “Instant asshole, just add alcohol” T-shirt at all times.

    Yes - this is what New Year’s makes me think of.
