Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 03/04 at 09:41 AMMorning - James .. Hello Mickey .. Today’s post is powerful.. I have a friend who served in the Israeli Army from 67-72.. and an aquaintance born in Palestine pre-48’ of Jewish ancestory who served in the USAF in the early 60’s… The Air Force vet - Mustafah and the Israeli vet - Zeev ... each lived in new Israel for many years. Zeev married a Christian/American doing mission work in his homeland...Zeev’s mother introduced him to Ellen!!—she converted… Mustafah married an Israeli woman—and has lived for verying periods in both Israel and the USA. He’s here now - because he required VA treatment. Zeev and I go round and round about the state of “The State”. Each of us has Palestinian business associates, both here and in Israel (Bethlehem - occupied Palestine). Mustafah is recovered now and wants to return home to Israel, but is continually delayed due to the fact that he was not born in Israel… Apparently our State Department has concerns for his safety, due to his country of birth!! He shoots back with a response that says..."If I had only been born a few miles up the road in 42’—I would have been an a naturalized citizen of “the New Homeland”—but such was fate...” I share this vinette/sprig in confusion over the power of the meaning LAND and it’s value in the hearts and lives of my friends.. things that make you go “hhmmmmm??” --- great idea with the double Prez post ... I like the links ... and here’s a lil diddy to ponder on .. http://tinyurl.com/2ojdo3 ... richie…—captcha sez—decision—
Posted by Richie on from st cloud / n ft myers, fl 03/04 at 11:47 AMNader secured the anti-AIPAC vote with his mention of the Israeli peace movement on Meet The Press. Lenni Brenner’s “51 Documents: Zionist Collaboration With The Nazis” is well worth a look.
American political process - digestive process: this is an antiquated joke, but a corporate diet gives it preservative value (rim shot, please).
Q: if there are now four worthy candidates endorsed by this site, to whom do I send a massive campaign contribution? (captcha sez ‘five’ - that’s massive to me)
Posted by Zen Prole on from Urth 03/04 at 11:48 AMSimultyping with Richie in FL...good to have you back! And greetings to Expendables near and far.
Posted by Zen Prole on from Urth 03/04 at 11:50 AMYes, hey Richie, I’ve meant to say it’s glad to see you around here again, hope your health’s been okay and sorry to hear of your recent losses.
And Zen I think you should donate all those funds to whomever’s website you visit the most!
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 03/04 at 12:04 PMHello Expendables. James, I think I’ll hire you as my campaign treasurer.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 03/04 at 12:11 PMGood morning Zen—I am pleased to be back .. Thanks for the reminder on Brenner’s work. richie .... captcha sez “truth” which enlightens while plundering the soul!
Posted by Richie on from st cloud / n ft myers, FL 03/04 at 12:13 PMI popped up Matt Gonzalez Wiki entry and created a link—http://tinyurl.com/2xvzsz—also Ralph Nader’s video announcement for Matt as his running mate—http://tinyurl.com/29hyce—go Matt go ----- Go Ralph --- Go Go MZ and RMJ --- let the televised debates begin… !!
Posted by Richie on from st cloud / n ft myers, FL 03/04 at 12:51 PMThanks, Richie. Here’s a good question to ask the Obama/Hillary crowd: Among many other issues, why isn’t their candidate talking about how the debates should be opened up to more parties? If you believe in democracy, how can you bar, for example, a Green Party candidate like Cynthia who has served for years in the US Congress? Either you’re for democracy or you’re not.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 03/04 at 12:55 PMWhere’s Joe today? Prosecute the Hobamary crowd.

Posted by JOS on from Oak Park 03/04 at 07:56 PMIn my role as campaign manager to the MZ/RMJ candidacy, I need to note it was a fine idea for the government of Venezuela to buy those AK’s a few years ago, as were the meetings and alliances instigated by the Chavez and Morales governments over the recent period.
While the number and technological levels of arms among the conflicted will tend to keep any casualties far beneath the bloodbaths the US typically inflicts on the Third World, it would be best for a third party, perhaps aided by an NGO or three, to intercede and re-assert some calm. The relative force levels of the three nations in question tends to preclude any swift unraveling of the situation due to difficult and/or narrow terrain, and the potential of Colombia facing a two-front conflict. Given the rapidity of communications outside tightly controlled avenues, there is ample time for cooler heads to prevail.
Aside from the “he said, she said” aspects of any potential warring, the US has been, since the end of the Cold War, intimately involved in Colombian affairs, sometimes violently, including the use of chemical warfare against the population under the guise of narcotics control. That Colombia has violated Ecuador’s border is unsurprising, though ironically identical in reasoning as the invasion of Cambodia in 1970. The reactions in the US press to border violations by US clients (Turkey and Israel among them) are tame, if they are noted at all.
What is most hopeful about this crisis is that the United States military will have great difficulty in intervening on the ground (as the euphemism goes) without risking backlash of many possible forms, regional, domestic, and international. All manner of electronic intelligence and support personnel have already been aiding the Colombian government, and license for use of stand-off weapons like cruise missiles is probably already in hand.
To aid in resolution, I recommend dropping in Jimmy Carter by parachute, possibly accompanied by Al Sharpton. If that fails to arrest the process, Ralph Nader is the hole card ‘cause everyone would unite against him. Regionally, Brazil, Bolivia, and/or Argentina could unite to force mediation over this border violation, with Chile a longshot. The international wild cards remain China and Russia - some things never change.
[That’s it - my political science education in a nutshell! If I could have taken a career of such analysis and disconnection seriously, life would be much different.]
Posted by Zen Prole on from Urth 03/04 at 08:53 PMJOS and Zen: You’ve convinced me. I’m voting for Nader for president of Gaza.

Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 03/05 at 01:34 PMDid anyone watch Nader on The Daily Show? He raised some great points but I must say his behavior seemed a little erratic.
