  3. Hi all. I would love to be there tonight. I hope someone will post it somewhere. I have a question. What would happen if America ceased to exist? Would we have a more peaceful world or would the planet sink into chaos? Just something to think about.

  4. Hello Expendables...and thanks for the good wishes.

Great link, Michael. I like Pilger’s idea of allowing the entire planet to vote in US elections and will steal that for tonight.

David: I think the planet is already slipping into chaos.

  5. You may be right, But is that attributed to Human nature or just the United States?

  6. David, 5, Ahhhh, the question, what is human nature? Aside from this question, the u.s. is the problem, especially if you live in the u.s.

Part of human nature is the ability to continuously learn, becoming more aware, more perceptive, ever transcending previous, erroneous thinking....Kenneth Walker told his students, “our only responsibility in life is to become fully conscious”

  7. I’ll be there tonight, with my camera, so there’ll at least be photos I can post, if not definitely video…

  8. From a talk given in 1966…

I think we said that we would talk over together this evening the question of confusion. Before we go into that, I think we should understand what we mean by freedom, and if there is such thing as freedom, and also what we mean by choice. Freedom from something, which is really a reaction, is not freedom at all. A revolt against a certain pattern of thought or a certain structure of society, a mere revolt, is not freedom. Freedom implies, doesn’t it really, a state of mind in which there is no imitation, conformity, and therefore no fear. One can revolt and yet conform, as is happening in the world now, and this revolt is generally called freedom. But that revolt inevitably, whether it is the communist revolution, or any other social revolution, must invariably create a pattern—maybe a different social order, but it’s still a pattern of conformity. And when we are talking about freedom, surely we mean a state in which there is no conformity at all, no imitation. And imitation and conformity must exist when there is fear; and fear invariably breeds authority: the authority of an experience of another, or the authority of a new drug, or the authority of one’s own experience, one’s own pattern of thinking.

  9. I believe we are free to do as we please. The only thing that holds most people hostage is the concequence(spelling?)of any paticular action.

  10. Have a great time tonight, MZ and James. I was sitting on the fence as far as making the trip down (North America is my ‘hood), but I have something immovable tomorrow AM.

Should the event not be recorded, or even if it is, I hope you’ll post your talk. Thing is, the Q&A session is usually the most interesting. Someone please record that part...anti-Nader venom draws me like an accident scene...in a first aid sorta way.

Evolution and Chaos: intertwined and very natural, though we’ve hosed up the environment too much to benefit from either.

  11. Yeah really, there should be a way to at least record the audio… if there’s anything I can do to help with that, anything I can pick up on my way in, let me know.

  12. Hello Zen, David, joe, Robert, and all

Mickey...We all will be with you in thought and envying all who are really there tonight. Have fun with it. You will be making a memory for yourself and all who hear your message.

James...great idea. It can be played on radio.

michael...Pilger is one amazing guy. He did “Stealing a Nation”. Too few have seen it.

About all on the planet voting in US elections - sure. That would be great. It’s immoral and unjust to not give them the vote since we occupy so many other countries. “No occupation without representation”! Either give them the vote, or pack up and shut down all of the bases and secret torture prisons.

  13. RMJ..I agree, and the world should have a say whether to prosecute the war criminals for decades of war crimes as well. I think I know how that vote will go...Mickey, say hello to everyone for me.

  14. Thanks again, everyone. I’ll report back later or tomorrow.

RMJ: I will definitely use this one: “No occupation without representation”

  17. Hello Expendables. We had a good turnout last night (maybe close to 30?). The talk was well-received, we had a good Q&A (disagreements but no personal attacks), and overall, the vibe was positive. James from Hell’s Kitchen was there, of course, and I met another regular visitor to this blog, Charles (I encouraged him to join in the conversations).

I’m sure James will add his comments later but having not done any talks for a while, I’d say this was a successful “comeback.” Stay tuned for more events.
