Ashamed to be American
Is there anything worse than a Daily Kos liberal?
Posted by JOS on from Oak Park 05/07 at 09:10 AMAnd it gets worse with each election.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/07 at 11:16 AMHas anyone come out against torturing logic?
DailyKos makes my head hurt.Posted by Zen Prole on from Urth 05/07 at 12:11 PMWait until they get their latest hero in office. Watch as denial runs to depths never before imagined.

Must say I fully agree, JOS!Hello, Mickey, Zen Prole and JOS from a cool Daylesford. Can’t really think of anything meaningful to write, so I’ll say ‘bye’ for now.
Take care!
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 05/07 at 04:23 PMMickey Z,
I enjoy your articles.
Having read your commenters I asked myself is this the 33% that still believe George Dubya is the best president ever?
All I’ve read from your commenters is bashing Daily Kos.
Your commenters don’t even address the article of your story. What’s up with that?
Let me address your article. Ashamed to be American.
I’ve been ashamed to be an American since January 2003 when George W. gave his State of the Union Address and stated Al Quaida was gone a get us, be afraid, very afraid. You know the rest. Homeland Security alert always on yellow. Some fictional jihadist group always going to attack us Americans. The jihadists are going to hit us beacause they don’t like our freedom.
What a total crock of shit.
As for the 2 questions you asked:
1. Do I feel the planet is in peril? Absolutely. If something isn’t done to curb greenhouse gasses we may have a lot less time on this planet.
2. Do I believe that those in power—those most responsible for the planet being in peril—will relinquish power voluntarily?
Absolutely not. The G8, the Rothchilds, NAFTA, CAFTA, etc. The European Union. The SPP, The NAU (North American Union)it’s all a global blitzcreig against soverign nations.
Thanks for listening.

Posted by Troubled Texan on from Texas 05/07 at 08:42 PMThanks, Troubled...and welcome to the blog. Hope you’ll join us again and help revive the conversations here.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/07 at 08:47 PMTroubled, most of the commenters here are not among the 33% that believe Bush is the best president ever...we are among the 1 or 2% that believe that there is no significant difference between the Democratic and Repuplican parties.
To me, a Daily Kos liberal is more dangerous than a Bush Republican. Most people can see the damage done by Bush and company from a mile away...for some reason it takes a lot more convincing to open eyes to the damage done by supposed liberals.
Let me second Mickey’s welcome...hope you come back to discuss this and other topics further.
Posted by JOS on from Oak Park 05/07 at 09:32 PMA handful of the comments at the OpEd News site were worth the bother. Gads, DailyKos just gets crazier and crazier the way that only a “love me I’m a liberal” blog can accomplish.
Posted by Mahatma X (the artist formerly known as Dr. B) on from Oklahoma U$A 05/07 at 09:36 PMBefore I forget, y’all ever check out Arthur Silber’s blog? Seems a bit of a kindred spirit.
Also, my blog moved slightly and had a name change:

I’m guessing he wasn’t at your talk on Saturday.

Welcome, Troubled Texan & Mahatma, and hello to Helga, JOS, and MZ.
To lighten the tone a little, how about a contest: best quote from Jenna’s wedding. (captcha sez ‘taken’ - LOL!)
Posted by Zen Prole on from Urth 05/08 at 05:51 AMWell...we have a discussion...with some heat, defense mechanisms arrising...well...I must examine the word ‘proud’. What is pride? Pride in what?
Pride in the shelves I just built, proud to know a friend denounced her religious affiliation. What is this pride we speak of? Is it the same as self-esteem...respecting oneself..while respecting others as well? Respecting all of life, giving respect to a loved one, respecting our food that we eat and enjoy. Respecting the Coyote I saw the other day running along the tiny stream behind the house, where I saw a Great Blue Herron the day before, perhaps the Blue Herron respects the Smelt it was look for to eat.
Then there is ‘Blind Pride’. What can this mean?
Does this mean having pride in the wrong things, or at the wrong time, needing to ‘feel’ a sense of pride for some reason? Having faith, trust for all the wrong reasons. Wanting to believe something has some virtue and for all the wrong reasons. What is humility? Is there a healthy humility, is there a behavioral characteristic that represents it’s a neat image, it’s cool to ‘act’ humble. What is real and what is accepted as being Real?Posted by joe of maine on from 05/08 at 10:22 AM“I believe that if an individual is not on the path to transcending his society and seeing in what way it furthers or impedes the development of human potential, he cannot enter into intimate contact with his humanity. If the tabus, restrictions, distorted values appear ‘natural’ to him, this is a clear indication that he cannot have a real knowledge of human nature.”—from Erich Fromm’s Credo http://tinyurl.com/6xnxbw
Posted by Robert B. Livingston on from San Francisco 05/08 at 11:31 AMRobert 14...I agree with Erich Fromm...and others who have stated this...because they know...they have verified for themselves.
Posted by joe of maine on from 05/08 at 12:08 PMHellos to all - I am back.
Am I ashamed to be an American - not exactly. I guess I consider myself to be a human, not an American. I resigned my American citizenship when I first read about what the U$A was doing in Central America in the ‘50s.
John Perkins was pretty good on DN this morning. He talked about how the US military is really the last resort and used only after the Corporate Hit Men and CIA fail in their mission to overtake the whole planet.
Posted by RMJ on from Ward Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/08 at 03:37 PMHello RMJ...good to know your here...americans-chinese...africans-Argentines...catholics-protestants...short-tall...rich-poor...black-white...all these divisions, mostly man-defined so to keep people divided and controlled by authorities...who make and enforce their defined rules, laws, their attempt to write their desired way of life into OUR reality...how dreadful this all is.
Posted by joe of maine on from 05/08 at 04:16 PMHey Jos,
I wanted to comment on your comment at # 8.
My first impression, after reading commenter’s responses, was that Mickey Z’s commenters were bashing a left wing site. To my understanding that made Mickey Z’s commenters right wing radicals. I assume I’m wrong.
Because I can not support Daily Kos or Fire Dog Lake I can understand where you’re coming from.
Yet, I was expecting commentary about the article Mickey Z wrote. The commenters didn’t even talk about it.
Mickey Z and Jos, and all you commenters. I appreciate what you’ve allowed me to state here.
Mickey Z’s next article? Game on!
Troubled
Posted by Troubled Texan on from Texas 05/08 at 08:44 PMThe first time I ever looked at Daily Kos, I just assumed that the commenters were all right wingers trying to sabotage the site.
Then I read on in a bit more depth.
The whole game is a dead end with all parties far to the right of what I think is acceptable human behaviour.
