How many times have I run this exact post?
Good morning everyone...I just interrogated the Brunswick, Maine town planner about the reckless development of the town. He acknowledged it is simply profits for local and out of state developers, such as Plum Creek from Washington state who want to turn Maine into a grand cesspool.
I left with the question, is it possible to hold group therapy for an entire nation? Impossible. Since war means profits, perhaps Bechtel will start the people’s revolution. What people?
In a recent article, Arthur Silber called Brick Obama a shithead, numerous times. I have no idea to Arthur Silber is but I agree every politician this country has ever known is a shithead. Oh there’s some people who won’t think the word shithead is very sophisticated, but I think this kind of language is right on target during these barbaric times.
Posted by joe of maine on from 06/30 at 11:12 AMShithead is a great word! I also enjoyed it when, several years ago, Paul Street (I think) called Bush an ‘insufferable jerk’. Understated, but apt.
JOS, from yesterday, happy belated birthday. This is for you: http://tinyurl.com/4tzp5b
Enjoy the time off Mickey.
Posted by keir on from here and there 06/30 at 03:08 PMMZ, the truth is that dead kids require less resources for burial; the empire is always looking to improve its mileage. Maybe we could start measuring dead kids in ‘Albrights’?
Joe, ‘shithead’ is entirely called for. Cheer up, because group therapy is in the works, whether it be a human or natural catastrophe. I’m surprised the town planner was that candid with you. Usually the position is an outpost of the Chamber of Commerce...to them, Maoists are lightweights.
Nice to see Keir, here and there.
You two have a great time away, MZ. I’m getting desperate enough to do the same thing.
Posted by Zen Prole on from Urth 06/30 at 03:26 PMMickey...You and Michele have earned the time off. Make some memories. Thanks for the front page photos. Zen is right. We should refer to the dead kids as ‘Albrights’.
Keir...Happy you are back ! We need you here.
joe...It’s all about money. The meaning of life under Capitalism - Gordon Gecco said it all “Greed is good” (on Wall Street). War is just another business plan. The speculators are the cause of 70% of the increase in oil prices. Under Capitalism some people get rich and some people freeze to death. I guess I am getting frustrated with some of the solutions to the oil prices that I have been reading on other blogs. People say things like burn wood instead of oil. Burning wood is not an option if you don’t have money for a wood stove or fireplace. Solar heat - yeh right, do you know how much that costs. Take public transportation - there is NO public transportation. The last train left the station in 1945. The last bus pulled out of here in 1993.

Posted by Richie on from st cloud / n ft myers FL 06/30 at 11:23 PMRoger Daltrey looks like he needs to get away from that shoot: “Come on, Roger, be a sport. This filming songs bit will be all the rage five years after Keith dies.”
George Carlin rules: “#### Lance Armstrong. #### him and his balls and his bicycles and his steroids and his yellow shirts and the dumb, empty expression on his face ... I’ll choose my own heroes, thank you very much.” (from his 2005 HBO special, “Life Is Worth Losing")

Posted by RMJ on from Ward Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 07/02 at 04:31 PMI just got my copy of CPR For Dummies! I can’t wait to start it tonight...well, I had to go ahead and read the first page right away and I can tell I am in for a ride. Very cool!
Posted by JOS on from Oak Park 07/02 at 04:55 PMNice link (#12) RMJ…
Amid invitations to parties where flags are waved, fireworks are lit off, animal carcasses are charred on grills, and nationalistic euphoria reigns, I have actually found something to declare this July 4th:
#### the British Monarchy. And #### their whole invading, colonizing, bombing, pompous government. Who has more aggressively and consistently shredded this planet over the last few centuries than they? Flipping the bird in their direction once a year seems the least one can do, and Friday’s as good a day as any. So why not accept the invitations, throw some highly-processed hot-dog shaped vegetarian thingy on the bbq, drink some beers, place a hand over the heart and say proudly: f uk!
Posted by keir on from here and there 07/02 at 05:44 PMThanks, JOS. I look forward to your feedback. I only now got my copies of CPR for Dummies so I haven’t even had a chance to enjoy the experience of savoring my first published novel.
Keir: Love it. I will post something tomorrow that can serve as a side dish to your declaration.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 07/02 at 05:56 PMI am enjoying it very much already, Mick. I was hoping that it was written in the same style as some of the short stories I’ve read of yours over at Cerebral Catalyst and I see that it is. I’ve read a lot of books, but this style is unique in my experience...that is quite an accomplishment in itself. The book is moving fast and powerfully and I am looking forward to where everything is heading. Congratulations again.
Posted by JOS on from Oak Park 07/02 at 09:27 PMCPR arrived for me as well. Congratulations, MZ. I’ll get into it over the weekend, once America’s yearly birth pains pass.
Let’s have plenty of fireworks on the 4th, but only if they are attached to torture committing/supporting/excusing/denying public figures. And I *have* worked on a fireworks crew (true).
Q: Can DUI roadblocks arrest people drunk on nationalism?
#9: That’s Mr. Shithead, thank you very much.
Posted by Zen Prole on from Urth 07/02 at 09:50 PMHey everyone-- been hard to follow lately what with being blocked from this while at work. Work’s been okay these days, proofreading for a company that would probably have an averse reaction to the enaction of single-payer health insurance, a corporation with the initials ML. They kinda probably don’t have anything to worry about, I’d bet my plush Snoopy doll on that.
Congratulations on people’s positive reactions to your novel so far and I hope to get an autographed copy next time I see you hopefully sometime in the sorta near future. By the way the current edition of the Onion is all about “Green” issues-- it’s all brilliant, take your pick: http://www.theonion.com
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 07/02 at 11:27 PMThanks, JOS...much, much appreciated.
