The new spray paint?
Eco art:
Posted by Andy from Shanghai on 02/18 at 03:29 PMHere’s an idea for graffiti. This Friday evening, after eating dinner, after relieving yourself from a Psyllium O.D., after arguing with your spouse, after abusing your children, after sobering up from too many cocktails after a day at wark, uplug your tv, paint ‘prosecute all war criminals’ on the screen and throw your tv out the door. Yes, you might be fined for doing this, but won’t it be fun. I’m not saying NO to digital, I’m saying no to TV, a big part of the system of sanctioned lies and violence.
Posted by joe of maine from Hell on 02/18 at 05:29 PMGreat link, Andy.
Great idea, Joe.

Joe, you gotta be careful throwing your tv out the door. If it breaks it could be toxic.
Posted by keir from here and there on 02/18 at 08:28 PMHere’s an idea. A badly formed one, mind you.
If Graffiti can sometimes be a kind of protest or citizen’s disruptive art focused at urban sprawls, then maybe it doesn’t just have to be pictures or writings.
Perhaps ripping up a pavement slab and putting plants there would be eco-graffiti. In big cities.
Posted by Andy from Shanghai on 02/19 at 01:41 AMThanks, Keir.
Andy: Seems like a well-formed idea to me. Another idea is seed bombs. I wrote about them a while back. Either way, it’s a method of non-toxic urban disruption. “Concrete breeds apathy.”
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 02/19 at 06:12 AMBtw, contrary to campaign rhetoric, Lord Obama has decided not to “re-open” NAFTA. I’m shocked, shocked...
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 02/19 at 07:15 AMjust like he doesn’t want to re-open old wounds by prosecuting the Bush Administration for their crimes (also, he would like to continue to perpetrate said crimes himself without worrying about prosecution)...
Posted by JOS from Chicago on 02/19 at 12:04 PMOne more time...with feeling: Change we can bereave in.
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 02/19 at 12:47 PMI’ve no idea why this sprung to mind. But. Here’s an article on how the urban landscape is designed to limit our activities.
J G Ballard and the Architecture of Control
Posted by Andy from Shanghai on 02/19 at 01:43 PMLOVE IT.
Posted by Jenn from on 02/19 at 02:25 PMHave fun in Vermont, Jenn.
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 02/19 at 03:09 PMWell, what do we have here, more Graffiti ?
Since 10pm Wednesday night the third floor of the Kimmel Student Center at New York University has been occupied by more than 70 NYU and non-NYU students. Originally present for the first few hours of the occupation I had to leave for personal reasons, but it is still going strong and spirits are very high. It was recently announced the head of NYU university relations has cut his vacation short and is flying back home. They’re clearly worried.
This is in direct solidarity with the many occupations occurring recently across the globe, from Greece to Britain to the New School and the University of Rochester.
There are 13 demands relating to NYU investments in war profiteers and occupation, the cost of tuition, the lack of transparency and the lack of respect for NYU workers.
See the full list of demands here: http://takebacknyu.com/2009/02/19/nyu-occupied/. See live streaming video from the occupation here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/take-back-nyu.
Posted by joe of maine from Venezuela on 02/19 at 05:59 PMThanks, all.
FYI: A new post is up.
