Becoming the Media

Posted by Mickey Z on 06/28 at 07:35 PM
  1. Welcome back from Texas buddy, I hope you’re doing OK.

    Clamor. Clamor!!

I personally think they created the best magazine of all time. Seriously! I stumbled across it when I was just moving beyond my Bush (George) fixation and starting to stretch my radical legs for the first time.

If I recall correctly, at the time I had ISR, adbusters and Z Mag being sent to me. Then one day at Barnes and Noble (of all freaking places!) Sophia (wife person) pointed the magazine out to me.

I don’t think she knew what she was going to ignite! Reading that other people viewed our society the same way that I did was incredibly liberating. Speaking out is almost impossible when one has actually trained oneself to ignore or condemn our own inner voice and yearnings.

A couple of stand-out issues were “street crime vs. corporate crime” and “academic freedom under attack” with Ward Churchill on the cover.

Become the Media? Fuck YES! That’s what I was originally trying to do with my now--more or less--failed project. I was a little naïve and WAY too excited back then. I really thought (felt) that if I typed something truthful, passionate and incendiary enough, I could shoot a revolution out of my laptop. Not quite so simple I now know!

However, as Chomsky has pointed out before: in every city or town there are always all of these little groups and organizations doing good and similar work, often times unaware of each other…well, we’re all aware of each other here in Expendaville…

“In other words, if the corporate-owned media drives the getaway car for global criminals, it’s high time to create our own independent methods of communication to not only expose what’s going on but also talk openly about what needs to be done…now.”

    Ok, so let’s do it.

    Good morning to you all!

  2. Yep...the medias certainly provide confusion and misinformation.

So many journalists, mainstream and not have jumped on this Iran vote crap and this is being used to the advantage of the war mongers and the peace people think Iran voices for change must be acknowledged. What change?

All politicians are criminals...one non-mainstream journalists states the criminal who didn’t win, who announced he won hours before votes were counted, ordered terrorist plots against the u.s. in the 80’s. Perhaps he was paid by the CIA to order these terrorist actions to the u.s. advantage. Who the hell knows.

So is the guy who didn’t win, Mousavi, is he the character the Iranians want for president because he is a lesser criminal than the other character.

How will we know what millions of people want, assuming they all think alike and that’s a scary thought.

Are all the protests about the Iranians not wanting any criminal or religious leader running the show?

I personally haven’t found any clarity about this topic in any media. Perhaps it’s out there somewhere and I guess only criminals want to lead others down the road named ME.

  7. Welcome back in the ‘Big Apple’, Mickey!

That is an excellent dissection of the media you give in this post, Cool Observer - and it is true throughout the Western world.

And good morning to Maxwell Black and Joe of Maine (great rant in #2) as well from Daylesford, where another rainy day has dawned.  There is not much wind, though, so it is not quite as cool as it was in the last few days.

  11. We seem to be stuck at 10? The Eleventh commandment.

Thou shall be stuck with Ten and here we are.

Change being necessary and many people have a personal priority for dissent and like always we have many divisions between people, groups.

Some people see the dangers of Monsanto but could care less about their starving neighbor...?

Some people want the bombing to stop but won’t lend an acquaintance a few badly needed bucks to cope with this sick society?

So is there a collective voice formed by the understanding of a common humanity, with little inherent differences, but with superficial concerns?

Reading about the bombing in Malaysia becomes more important than tending to the pain of your mate, who is sitting next to you.

So we need to be aware of all this shit going on that is committed by insane people and we need to tend to that which enables us to be nourished to continue with what ever needs to be done to aid the larger society and planet.

Being emotionally separate from each other, while near each other is a condition the authorities will applaud. Our common sameness as humans who feel as well as think will bond us, not just the superficial interests that play tricks with our repressed selves while we rationalize priorities that keep us divided or scattered with no focus on that which is organic and visceral.
