My interview with Expendable Michael

Posted by Mickey Z on 09/01 at 01:36 PM
  1. Interesting news day all of a sudden…

  2. “Essentially it is like choosing to be shot in the head 5 times or shot in the head 4 times.”

    Dead on. Good interview.

  3. Maxwell: Good to see you, stranger. Are you talking about the Discovery Channel episode?

Keir: Maybe you’ll be next for an interview? Didn’t you have something big cooking for the fall?

Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria  on  09/01  at  05:06 PM
  4. Evening all and thanks Keir and Mickey.

As far as interesting news goes...watch the bLIARs one hour “it wasn’t me” interview that he just did. You could find on BBC or youtube easy enough.

I would recommend it as a way of testing your blood pressure and ability to stay calm in the face of severe provocation.

  5. Good afternoon, Mickey, Maxwell, keir and michael - from a sunny Daylesford.  Great interview indeed.

Re extinction:  it seems that Australia has a very bad record when it comes to extinctions and Australians seem to lead lead the world in CO2 emissions per head.  Depressing ..

  6. The topic of Extinction also reminds me of recent conversations about the brutal treatment by the authorities of poor people. Apparently poor people are not good for the ‘fabricated’ images of many towns and cities.

An image must be fabricated since the character development of certain authorities includes within it, hatred, discrimination, scapegoating and other forms of unethical and criminal behavior. Just keep the lawns mowed and the buildings painted so nice people with lots of money will want to stay in your town that is filled with the mental stench of its authorities.

  7. Hi Helga, joe, Mickey, Michaell, Max, Keir, and all…

Hey , I just received a ‘hate’ e-mail from one of the editors of a local publication. Seems they did not like my annual Labor Day bit in honor of the US worker. A simple rejection would have been sufficient but the e-mail went on and chewed me out for being too pro-labor. Maybe I will send the brief article to Mickey - it might be a bit too long for this blog.  Anyway, the ‘hate’ e-mail said that workers in the US are not treated unfairly any more. Everyone in the US work force is treated with respect and kindness. Really????

  10. …so yesterday while singing songs and dancing jigs for my super-daughter Isabella (aka “The Baby”) my wife called. She said, “You might find this interesting, apparently some radical environmentalist has taken the Discovery Channel hostage and is going to broadcast a manifesto or something.” I said back, “No shit? I’ll call ya back.”

I thought, “Is someone about to pull a ‘V is for Vendetta’ and bust out a ‘there is something very wrong with this country’ speech?” Well I have an Enquiring mind…

So I turned on my daytime host of the afternoon empire hologram, Rick Sanchez, (I usually have on my holograms of resistance and justice Amy Goodman or Thom Hartmann) and it was really happening…LIVE; wall to wall breaking news coverage. They even had his (The Mad Gunmen who they already seemed to know intimately) MySpace page up with a caption that read: Its Time for REVOLUTION! And I thought, “Like, totally.” I put “The Baby” down on her safe mat/carpet area, ran to my laptop and typed the above comment.

So I ran back down the stairs to my favorite Cuban exile—Sanchez—and learned that, “The Gunman is dead, all is cool now. Go back to shopping and working (what’s the difference in a debt-based capitalist economy?) FOREVER.” Then the news cycle changed to “Israel, Peace, Peace, Israel, Terrorism, Palestinian. You Want a Piece of the Peace Palestinian Peacelessnistas?”

    Something like that.

[I could almost start commenting on Dissident Voice! No offence Kim.]

So my wife’s call inspired about five minutes of revolutionary imagination. In the end it was just kind of sad. That dude got shot, and well, his “manifesto” fucking sucked. Does that seem mean considering that the guy is dead? I don’t care. It reads a hell of a lot like it was written by a cop impersonating an environmentalist. I don’t know. It doesn’t read like something a Quinn reader would have written. In fact it is kind of stupid. Honestly my closet conspiracy side smells a whiff of intrigue in the air. And….

It’s probably going to be scapegoat season again soon. First they came for the… Operation Backfire Revisited:

In the spirit of the MZ/MG interview being discussed and with THE SPIRIT of Brad Will and Abbie Hoffman in my heart I give you: Apocalypse WOW!…

The first (s)edition will be here matinee time manana. Night, night time.

  12. Great, WordPress hosted blogs are no longer blocked in China.

I couldn’t find a link for the RSS feed though, Michael.

  13. MZ and all, this is an All-Star post - a joy to read (barring subject matter, o’course). Expendables rule.

I’m just reading “Climate Wars,” michael, so the bar is high...and this is a great interview. More (wind and muscle) power to you.

Maxwell, thanks for the update on the Discovery Channel blipette. Hadn’t seen anything on it, but this seems to confirm the thesis in “Going Postal”: the essential missing ingredient is solidarity. Ten thousand on some direct action project might have had a different outcome. (Did anyone hear about John Cusack’s tweet vs. Fox News? Murdoch’s mob are pantywaists - can’t deal with a fair fight.)

RMJ, please let us see the message you got. This isn’t gawking; I’d file it under ‘Psychology, Fascist.’ Could be useful for reference.

My 2c: crude, ignorant politics and social relations are the tip of the overpopulation/consumption iceberg. (heatberg?) As cynical as I can be, it still pains me to understand that the über-insane days of the US (and elsewhere) are likely only beginning, making a mockery of the term ‘humanity.’ Hats off to those who can effectively respond in the face of such deafening insanity. (My outlook wasn’t helped by watching The Cove last week.)

  14. Hi Mickey, Zen, Andy, Max, and all…

Forgot to say that Mick used one of my favorite words in his poem - “Conundrum”. Isn’t that a great word!  Another word that I recently got a crush on is “Stare Decisis”. It’s a legal term that I am not totally in agreement with, but the sound of the words reminds me of a star lit nite with surf and sand.

Zen...I will see if I kept that e-mail. Last night I was thinking about the injustice that some workers face… especially children of migrant farm workers who are exposed to all sorts of dangers and toxins.  Why do so few in the US ‘get it’?----A few months ago a farm worker from Mexico was killed in a Vermont farm accident. His family was so terrified of the feds that they were afraid to go to his funeral.

  15. Feels like the old days around here so maybe we can keep the vibe going on the next thread. I just put up a guest post from RMJ.

  16. The loss of species is such a sad and horrible thing.  Obviously it is a part of life, but there is no reason for us to do things that speed up the process.
