Michael Moore or Lesser

  1. Poor Mickey… blinded by his hatred of liberals (and anyone who has ever associated with them)
he can’t except the possibitliy that Michael Moore has actually made an imperfect yet worthwhile film, which functions hardly as just an ego-trip for the dems…
For some balanced accounts of its attributes and failings, I suggest you check out David Walsh’s review (http://www.wsws.org/articles/2004/jun2004/911-j30.shtml) or some of the stuff over at Press Action…

  2. Interesting...that’s probably the first time I’ve been accused of hating liberals. What can that mean?

As for Moore’s flick, without some balance, it’s a campaign ad that Kerry didn’t have to pay for.

I actually can’t tell if you’re be facitious here or not, but no matter…

But If you are under the impression Moore’s film functions solely as a campaign advertisent for Kerry and the democrats, then you are sorely mistaken. Yes, I fully concede that there are a few to many cheap shots at Bush and Co. (the other reviews I mentioned point this out as well) and a some of the important work gets lost under the ‘emotional weight’ of the film, but your being entirely too dissmissive, especially for not having seen it.

  4. My comments are very specific in terms of where I stand. I don’t pretend to critique the film as someone who has seen it...rather, I’m giving Moore some credit for presenting material that could sway audiences. My complaint--clearly stated--is where he is pointing that audience. Thus, whether I see the film or not, it ends up as a free ad for Kerry.

  5. I saw F 9/11 last weekend and thought it was worth the price of the ticket (actually, my wife and I used free movie passes to get in) because of the video footage of U.S. soldiers in Iraq and back home at Walter Reed that Moore collected and the excellent soundtrack. The music editor for F 9/11 should win an award. Others have noted that Moore takes aim at Sen. Daschle for supporting the war on Iraq when he easily could have found footage showing Kerry on the Senate floor voicing his support for the Iraqi war resolution (see Micah Holmquist’s review).

Yeah, F 9/11 is partly a John Kerry campaign promotional documentary. But it’s got its entertaining and riveting moments. It didn’t convince me to appreciate the Democratic Party or John Kerry any more than before. Kerry is indeed a carbon copy of Bush on foreign policy issues and domestic issues that really mean anything. Eli Stephens over at Left I on the News had an interesting comment in his review of F 9/11 when he pointed out that Moore probably forgot the next line in the Who song when he used the footage of Bush mangling the “Fool me once” quote. That line: “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.” Yep, that’s what we’d get if the Anybody But Bushies get their wish.
