Springsteen thinks Kerry is Born to Run?
Been there.
That’s an important lesson in life. A music hero is only a hero in regards to music. It is unrealistic--and a disappointment in the making--to expect to find agreeable all the aspects of the entertainer just because you found the music agreeable.
But it’s hard to criticize Springsteen or anyone for choosing Kerry over Bush. Bush is the front man for an ideology (well represented in this administration) that would push America over the edge in terms of aggressive imperialism. Before Bush, America may well have been an empire, but that was poorly known or supported amongst the electorate. This year, a vote for Bush is a KNOWING vote for that push.
If Bush isn’t defeated, this will be argued as a referendum for the NeoCon agenda. And voting third party (given the miniscule number of third party votes these days) will only help get that referendum passed.
Nader makes a good point that voting for Kerry will only continue the Duopoly. But before we repaint the walls and reshingle the roof, we gotta put out the fire.
