Dances with Walruses
Do tell Mickey, for mine and my families sake, how one is able to comletely prevent getting one of the many forms of cancer…
Posted by b.adams on from 08/08 at 03:10 PMWhile I’m assuming your tone to be one of sarcastic condescension, I will reply as if that assumption were wrong:
The vast majority of cancers are caused by what we ingest. A great first step is to go vegan, i.e. stop eating animal products. Also, get a water filter, air filter, eat organic, use non-toxic cleaning products and cosmetics, etc. Feel free to e-mail me directly for more info.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from 08/08 at 06:06 PMOne more thing: I never said “completely preventable.”
Posted by Mickey Z. on from 08/08 at 06:25 PMWell I didn’t mean to sound sacrcastic and condescending (although I have known many people affected by this and do resent the idea that thier suffering can be boiled down to reckless lifestyle choices) and thankyou for the response.
Although I am not a vegan I can completely respect and admire your lifestyle choices. For thansands of years, almost universally, human cultures have been using animal products in thier diet - and the choice to do so hasn’t always necessarily been exploitative - obviously a Native American catching a fish in a stream (an almost reverential activity) bears virtually no resemblence to the modern day harvesting and torture of animals for mass consumption. But seeing as these symbiotic conditions between humans/nature have been shattered, perhaps it is best to see ‘going vegan’ as not only a revolutionary choice on a personal scale but as an EVOLUTIONARY one on the human scale…
Thanks for your time.
Posted by b.adams on from 08/08 at 08:20 PMThanks for the exchange...and stay healthy.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from 08/08 at 08:24 PMi know that it was true in 1990 and i’m sure it still holds truth today (either that or we’re living in a chemical-dependent society...or both) but it’s impossible to pattent a medicine made completely from natural ingredients. who knows what sort of cures nature can offer us when there is no dollar to be made? but really i can express little empathy (exerting any amount of concern only when we have a third-party suffering from the mistakes of another..namely much of the human population suffering from the pollution caused by multinationals) when with a little bit of fighting (in the political sense) we can prevent most cancers etc. from forming in the first place! regardless of what path we choose i’ll never understand what exempts people from death when it is a part of life for every other animal on this planet?
Posted by davidbilmas on from hartsdale, ny 08/19 at 09:56 PMI agree, David...who in their right mind would want to live forever?
Posted by Mickey Z. on from 08/19 at 09:59 PMthe sad thing is that most people in the western world are barely living..and they just want to keep it up
Posted by davidbilmas on from hartsdale, ny 08/19 at 10:00 PMWe need less people worrying about life after death and more committed to life before death.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from 08/19 at 10:15 PMwell said!
Posted by davidbilmas on from hartsdale, ny 08/19 at 10:16 PMthough i think it should be “fewer”. correct me if i’m wrong.
Posted by davidbilmas on from hartsdale, ny 08/19 at 10:17 PMNot sure what you mean…
Posted by Mickey Z. on from 08/19 at 10:18 PMgrammar...less refers to amounts that can’t be counted and fewer refers to amounts that can be counted. less sad, fewer people because sad can’t be expressed in numerical terms while people can
Posted by davidbilmas on from hartsdale, ny 08/19 at 10:20 PMIn other words, my grammar skills would be less pathetic if I made fewer errors?
Posted by Mickey Z. on from 08/19 at 10:22 PMi get it..very funny
