Dissent is a marathon...not a sprint
it seems as though badmouthing kerry is as taboo now as badmouthing bush was right after 9/11 (and still is to a great deal of people). when i try to defend my critique with descriptions of kerry that could easily be mistaken for bush i get warned that not voting is a vote for bush. the very people who are calling bush out for stealing the election in this so-called democracy are offering me only one choice at the polls if i want to do what’s “right”. well, when i go to the polls i’m not entering the booth. i’m asking for a write-in slip and i’m voting for myself. who else do i really agree completely with, anyway?

Posted by mike conner on from rockland country new york 09/02 at 10:54 PMWhat really gets me is how much like rooting for a football team this Kerry vs. Bush contest is. If you’re lucky, you get a genuine meat substance hotdog for playing along.
Then there’s the money thrown away on campaign donations. The liberal PACs generally serve to defund outside the mainstream projects. They’re not going to get the social democracy they talk about. The idealistic kids who chumped up for Dean could have funded a big strike and/or job actions. $40 million is a lot of dough to waste. Now they’re giving their 20s and 50s to Kerry and MoveOn. All that time, money and energy thrown away.
The majority of people who don’t vote sure could use even the smallest victory.

“$40 million is a lot of dough to waste. Now they’re giving their 20s and 50s to Kerry and MoveOn. All that time, money and energy thrown away.”
It’s a crime to see how easily the idealistic are manipulated.
