Eco-nomics: Green, not greed

  1. I voted. Good article.

Congratulations to Mickey on the release of yet another book!

On one of today’s money programs they were talking about what a good investment it would be for those with extra money to invest in “water” companies.  Yep, Wall Street is ready to profiteer on water. They have been doing that in other countries for years. Soon it will be happening in your back yard. They said that there is profit to be made because the pipes and infrastructure in many towns will soon fail due to age. Having a private well is not the answer. I have one. Very expensive.

  2. I hear you, RMJ...as we know, the Pentagon is figuring out ways the US can benefit from the upcoming “water wars”:

It is only natural that we allow wall street to first extract huge profits from the shortages.

Looking forward to getting your latest book, Mick.  Congratulations...it looks like a good one.

  3. And congratulations from me as well, Mickey, on the publication of another book!  ‘Self Defense for Radicals’ sounds interesting - I look forward to reading it.

Just back from Melbourne and might be called away at any time, seeing my mother-in-law is not too well.  She has had trouble breathing in the last few days.  At least she is not in pain ..

Best wishes to all of you,
    Helga

  6. I’m here. Was lurking as we were working on and recording some songs for the band Monday.

Got my PETA material in Chinese for our show (not my own band at the show though). Next up - an original photo shoot for anti-fur then the gig.

Gulp, not many vegetarian non-fur people on the scene ... yet ... but I found one and we may have to ‘man-up’ (although she’s a she) and get in the pic ourselves to set the exam)¨ö\¨ö\> Bring it on and fuck the trade in animal’s skin.

    Loved the article too, Mickey.

  7. Actually, I must say that even thinking about doing a bit of activism is getting me buzzing on an equal, if not stronger, level than playing in the band or going on stage to act.

I just can’t wait to show people those gory flyers and let them know it’s unacceptable. Getting goose bumps already. It’s gonna rule.

  8. Thanks, Andy. I’m very curious to hear how your event turns out.

  10. Looking forward to your pamphlet.

I was curious if that was true about Bob Marley’s last words, so I looked it up.  According to one site:

“if you check out all the ‘biographies’ out there, they all quote different ‘last words’:

Stephen Davis writes ‘Don’t cry for me Mamma, I’m gonna be alright’...and then a few minutes later ‘Come closer, come nearer’ (Davis mentions, though that Marley spoke to his sons and told them what he wanted them to do, without being specific about it)

Rita Marley does not exactly write anything about the very last words but she says Marley told Steven that ‘Money can’t buy life’ and Ziggy ‘On your way up, please take me up, and on your way down, don’t let me down’

The latter quote is also kind of cited in his mother’s book but in a different way ‘On your way up, don’t let me down’...according to her, the last words were ‘I’m going to take a rest now’ after which he pulled the breathing plug off his nose”

So… there you go.  Who knows?  Anyway, it’s a good story which only adds to the legend.  I really dug the affluenza quote.  I put it up on my raw food site but it didn’t attract as much attention as the discussion on favorite tv shows.

  11. Does that mean that maybe money can buy life?

  12. As Weird Al Yankovic sang in his song This Is The Life: “So if money can’t buy happiness, I guess I’ll have to rent it.”

  13. What do you think Weird Al’s last words will be?

  14. Nothing.  He’ll just belch really loudly and go.
