Fact of life (poem)

Posted by Mickey Z on 07/30 at 07:34 PM
  1. Hugs for you Mickey.  You’re the best son a mom could ask for.
Having just returned from the surgeons office this afternoon and broken down in tears, I know how valuable it is to have family members who are ‘here for me’.
At the top of my list of survival tips for patients:
dont expect emotional support from your physician.

    best wishes for your family.

  2. Hello Expendables. I’m flying home later today but will return to Texas soon with Michele.

Frances: I’ve been thinking about you a lot. Please feel free to post here as often as you like. We can be “here” for you as best we can. Also, e-mail me any time. For now, I’m sending good thoughts and virtual hugs your way.

  6. MZ, those demotivators are insanely good. I got a catalog from them just so I could chuckle if I really needed it. My favorite (among many) is:

Hunter S. Thompson’s famous quote is no longer limited to the music business:
“[Life] is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There’s also a negative side.”

And if that isn’t bracing enough, then let’s see what’s behind Door #3: http://tinyurl.com/y8y42g

    “Geeeahhhgh!” <shiver>

  7. Zen...Thanks. Your Hunter Thompson quote put a big smile on my face. Also Mickey’s link to the anti-motivational posters is really pretty funny.

frances...I have been thinking about you. As Mickey says, we are here for you. And as you say, Mickey is sure the best son a Mom could ask for.  You make an important point about emotional support from doctors. Just yesterday I went to our local hospital and let them know that I volunteer to “be with” anyone there who has no family support system. One of the great tragedies in our culture is the disintegration of the family unit. Many are still lucky but many others are all alone.

  8. Here’s a very sad and controversial news story. I have no doubt that the mother will be blamed, BUT sometimes a mother has to chose between food for the kids and safety for them. That is just the reality of life in the u$a. I know of many cases like this but most were lucky and there were no deaths.

  9. Hello everyone. I just got home and wanted to say thanks to those who donated money while I was gone. I’ll see all you tomorrow…
