Gee, Cindy, I'm confused...

Posted by Mickey Z on 05/29 at 04:29 AM
1. MZ

Cindy is tired - warn out. We have Peace Studies Majors at a number of Universities. I’m not sure how one supports oneself with that diploma in hand. Cindy is growing weary of persons like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi’s leadership, or lack thereof in Congress. Ms Pelosi picked a fine week-end to explore Greenland (my bro Tommy was stationed at an AF Base - Greenland during the Kennedy Cold War era). Mr Reid is no doubt calculating his next move by consulting the late Jimmy the Greek. Meanwhile the first 100 days of this Congressional Session have come and gone with no real progress to date. Is Peace evident to you?—World - USA - Astoria - Georgia ?? Maybe we are all in the mid-term blahs...and it’s ions away from the next National Election. Georgie Porgie Bush seems peaceful enough, with his sleeves rolled up, no seatbelt, Blair’s departure
etc. Come to think of it, Bushie’s caricature resembling Alfred E. Newman - “What, Me Worry smile” grows more apparent every day. Well at least the Mets are winning - so there’s something to take your mind off the heat in the City . Burma Shave

peace out !! richie

2. When one looks at the kind of society we’re born into, the kind of education we generally receive, prevailing activities, societies institutions, independent thought really not encouraged and helped to develop, where is the character development? Where are the individuals who DON’T want to lead, who DON’T want to follow, but see a more holistic approach to people relating and working together. Yes these people exist, I don’t think in large numbers. We’re overwhelmed by negative information and news, everywhere we go. It’s easy to lose track of oneself and maintain a high degree of strength, psychological and physical strength. Without character development, without education to enable people to find themselves, who they really are, aside from who they have become due to social brainwashing, many people are very much alike with subtle differences. There are control freaks, socio paths in politics, they exist, perhaps on a slightly different scale amongst peace activists. There are varying degrees of neurotic behavior...none of the activities and people involved are an ideal....thus, priorities might be different and in fact inappropriate to the cause. Many activists are hell bent on resurrecting this system...they will quote historical events, yet not put the present into perspective and see the present as a passage that must take place. It’s time to move to a new paradigm, develop new ways of relating. It’s difficult to break away from the mainstream entirely...but ‘history’ is happening and all forces are begging to move on...so our task is to be mindful as to where we focus our attention and energy...conserve our energy so we can see and act with clarity...we must develop a new society...small is the answer. We envision a society change, a political change, our thoughts lose perspective of the enormity of what we would like to see, what our words and thoughts represent. We neglect to realize the enormity of what we ask, what are thoughts and words represent. Stay grounded on the feet you’re standing on and help the very next person who is like-minded, stay focused and small. The self-sufficient communities that once existed without the enormous problems we presently have can and must be reclaimed. Our humanity and sanity must be reclaimed. What we think and what we can do might not be consistent. It is easier to develope work, feed a smaller group of people than it is 300 million. I am not suggesting to withdrawal or become apathetic to larger, enormous problems. We can only act sanely on a smaller scale, even if our minds are developed well beyond the ordinary or beyond the extarordinary!

3. Hi Mickey and Richie… Yes, Cindy is burned out. I was with her a few months ago. She radiated a charm and seemed so genuine that it would be hard not to like her. What she has been doing was not easy. Living out of a suitcase, traveling all the time, being the subject of ad hominem attacks. I think that the democrats finally got to her.

Mickey, I agree, there is no REAL peace movement in the usa. The democrats have seen to that. They pretended to be in opposition to the war and lied their way into Congress. Nothing will change until the people push the dems out of their way.
Blackwater is in the news again !!!

Here’s one sure to get me in trouble.

Hi Joe, Ritchie

RMJ, great article and very a good question. My answer is Israel and the USA.

6. Cindy Sheehan is in retreat and the makers of the tv franchise “Big Brother” are doing an organ-transplant game show.

What next?

Well, today we read that Russian fascists (or whatever) are beating up Western European civil rights activists for international news cameras (read about it here) and the Polish government is psychoanalyzing the Teletubbies.

Don’t give up hope people!
We are obviously winning!

8. Are they going to steal the 2008 election? No, they’ve already stolen it.

I know that you know that we already know this...still it bears repeating.

9. So much for the flying toaster.

Cindy decided where she wants to show up-- and it is not with the two-faced or and ego-driven.

All power to her!

11. The Democrat version of a “peace movement”:

They’ll paint smiley faces on the bombs they drop on civilians whom they’ll claim they’re killing for “humanitarian” reasons.

12. Interesting comment, Mickey! However, I think you are a bit hard on your countrymen - the US does have a peace movement IMHO but you wouldn’t know from the corporate media’s non-coverage.

Hello from a damp Daylesford to richie, Maine Joe, Rosemarie, Frances (thanks for the Palast link), Keir, iv, Robert B. Livingston, JOS and Dr B (love the dollar sign there).
Here’s what’s been happening down under in the last 10 years:

13. Meanwhile I can’t recommend this book highly enough:

Chalmers Johnson always ROCKS!
And this NYR review of his and two other books is quite good, too:

14. Didn’t know America had a PEACE movement???
Haven’t been paying attention, have you! Or are you that poor? Just because the mainstream media is afraid to tell the public doesn’t mean other sources don’t. Get off FOX, except to document their BS. If you can’t find a gathering for PEACE in your neighborhood, organize one. Or are you to unwilling to make the small sacrifice so many Americans cannot make and get out of the house and join others for PEACE. I’ve been on the PEACE Wagon for over 40 years, I haven’t fallen off once. It is disgusting though that so many would rather kill than discuss sharing.

15. It took a while for Cindy to come clean about how her son wound up as a soldier for imperialism. It took her far too long to figure out that she was serving lesser evilism: the prowar Democratic Party. But at least she has finally come clean. Best to her and the development of a peace movement that cannot be ignored by the corporate media (which deserves to be ignored).
