Gonzales in the (White) House
The success/failure myth is certainly pervasive. It took me awhile to wedge free to save my sanity. No wonder so many of us crack up or find superficial alternative methods to cope with the “reality” that we have been sold. These days I take care to make my own definition of success...guilt-free. Great post. Thanks.

The idea is to “turn up the volume” on our combined progressive voices. If you are interested, and want to know more...e-mail me and provide your progressive blog’s URL. Thank you, MickeyZ, for helping with this effort and allowing this plugola.Posted by deb on from Seattle 01/09 at 11:33 PMhave you read John A Livingston’s “Rogue Primate”? it goes a long way to explaining some of the reasons for our seemingly senseless lemming-like followership.
and, yes, ditto - great post - as usual!

Tendentious...read “Rogue Primate” and revisit the whole human-nature argument. We are the products of forces beyond our ability to influence...which is not to say we should not strive to be free of the determinist’s behavioral doomsaying. It’s an individual battle, though, and should be viewed as such. Organized religion hasn’t been able to turn out a generation of free-thinking altruists in a few dozen millennia of trying. Patience with our frailties, please!Posted by Richard on from The great Red State of Texas, blech 01/12 at 03:27 PM
