Henry Kissinger assumes the missionary position

Posted by Mickey Z on 09/24 at 06:13 AM
  1. I can vaguely recall a childhood attempt at trying to reconcile reality with ‘Adult Logic’, my facts were few, my analysis was not terribly deep, but WTF sums up my attempt at understanding how Kissinger was given a Nobel Peace prize.

He is a fine example of the psycopathic nature of what’s been so wrong with our world for such a long time, undermining any efforts to make it otherwise.

Mudge, from last night - I’m with Mickey hoping for an eleventh hour reprieve. Be strong.

  2. Yes Mudge, as Amelopsis says, be strong. We are with you.

About Kissinger, if the usa can go into other countries to make arrests and in the process slaughter innocent civilians (maybe 5000)as in Panama… anybody remember Noriega who is still being held prisoner in Miami (and just how fair was his trial). I think he is supposed to be released in a couple of years. Anybody taking bets on whether the CIA will murder him before he has a chance to talk.  Why doesn’t some other country come into the usa and arrest Kissinger and cart him away to some distant Star Chamber? It’s time for war criminals to be behind bars.

  3. Guess who’s heart is bleeding at the plight of the Kurds now?

  4. Great pic of Henry the K picking his nose!  That’s the first time I’ve ever been able to laugh at the prick.  Well done MZ.

  6. Sorry, the link is not working. It was a comment about Bush executive orders on the Resist site.

  7. Kissinger’s double dealings with the Kurds were Kissinger double dealings I didn’t know about until today. Thanks MZ. A disgrace of a human being, for sure, but that seems to be about standard for US secretaries of state.

    SK: nice catch!

  8. Hello Expendables...welcome back, SK...and a heartfelt cyber-hug to Mudge. On the verge of rain here in NYC.

Indeed, Dr. Kissinger is merely a symptom of this disease we call America...albeit, a particularly nasty, pus-filled symptom.

  9. Another who’s heart bleeds for the Kurds is Canada’s Liberal party leadership contender Michael Ignatieff, who spent most of his adult life in the US, lecturing on foreign policy...they are the main reason he trots out when asked why he supports the war in Iraq.  He attempts to soften his view by crediting the US with ‘every mistake in the book’ since then.

I wonder how Kissinger fits into his view of recent political history there.

  10. Here’s a link from left field:

Beth Owl’s Daughter.  I don’t read it everyday because Beth happens to be my sister-- but because it is always consistently interesting and often wise-- and it beats reading the horoscope in the daily paper.

Check out today’s post-- and the photo of Tom Delay.

Unfortunately, the website isn’t archived, so after today… today’s posting will just be history.

  11. Another humanitarian disaster being selectively played up is Darfur. This MP3 of an interview of a former Human Rights watch staffer and the first 10 minutes of this interview on Democracy Now might be useful for those trying to get a better handle on the situation…

  12. has anyone read Good as Gold by Joseph Heller? it´s a Washington DC satire he wrote in 79 and made me laugh much more than Catch 22. Chapters 7 and 8 are basically one long rant about Kissinger, with lines like this: “In Gold’s conservative opinion, Kissinger would not be recalled in history as a Bismarck, Metternich or Castlereagh but as an odious schlump who made war gladly.”

  13. These are my favorite scary Kissinger quotes:

“The absence of alternatives clears the mind marvelously.
    Henry Kissinger

    “I don’t read books, I write them.”

“The illegal we do immediately. The unconstitutional takes a little longer.”
    Henry Kissinger

    Owenb: Don’t know that book.

  15. Great post, Mickey!  I quite share your hatred of Kissinger - and of the reverential treatment he gets from most ‘journalists’ - aka stenographers.

And after we had a wet and stormy Sunday followed by a very cold night, the sky on this Monday morning is almost blue and it looks promising.

‘Hi’ to Amelopsis, Rosemarie, sk, Chris, Keir, Robert B. Livingston, dw and Owen in Barcelona.  Be well, all of you

  16. The video notes that the US hasn’t signed up to the ICC. I don’t think that politicians in signatory countries are very worried about the ICC as it doesn’t cover War of Aggression yet.  Tony Blair could help invade Iraq knowing the WMD stories were lies and not have to worry about the ICC getting him.

The ICC is still wrestling with the definition of War of Aggression.  There are annual conferences about the definition but there’s not much progress and the conferences are short on time and money.

Details are on the ICC website http://www.icc-cpi.int/asp/aspaggression.html

But we live in hope (which requires less effort than action).
