Lend me your brains...
R-Rated Wisdom: That first dispute sounds suspiciously like Tyler Durden. “The first rule of monastery is you do not talk about monastery.”
Wisdom quotes and your Ash Wednesday journey made me bust out “Japanese Death Poems,” which isn’t nearly as glum as it sounds, and is a joy for fans of haiku.

Posted by Zen Prole on from Urth 02/20 at 11:13 AMI always heard that the best way to establish harmony is to play Beatles records.
That’s a joke of course-- but spinning some old discs-- or imaging spinning them in these digital times-- sure helps me when I feel blue.
I wonder what my favorite Beatles song is? I have to really think about it.
I love that song “It’s Only A Northern Song.” Don’t think I could quote the lyrics right off-- but the music has an ephemeral, magic quality.

Hi ZEN...Congratulations.
Robert...Cynthia McKinney was on C-span last night. She is wonderful and has polished her oratory in recent months. She was very impressive in her delivery and also on the issues.
Mickey...Maybe the government types were here getting ready to give you the normal protection as a Presidential candidate.
Is today the anniversary of the Malcolm X assassination?????
Posted by RMJ on from Mickey Z 4 Prez Hdqts 02/20 at 04:35 PMHello Expendables. Love the haiku. I think tomorrow is the Malcolm X anniversary. And my favorite Beatles song changes on an hourly basis. Right now, it might be “Yer Blues.”
The ash-spreading went well (so to speak) but we still have an urn about 3/4 full (You can’t exactly dump mass quantities of crushed bones on city streets). A sad day but sort of like a treasure hunt to find places that tell a story about one woman’s life.
Also, Michele’s Dad ended up in the emergency room. He was in severe pain but it turned out to be a sprained hip. Nothing major but very, very painful. We’re hoping he’ll take it as the warning it is. He needs to lose weight and make some lifestyle changes.
Plus, Michele recently dislocated her shoulder for the third time in 4-5 years and that could result in surgery...but we can’t find a surgeon we like that takes our insurance.
Besides that, it’s been smooth sailing lately.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 02/20 at 04:42 PMMany words of wisdom today, Mickey! And so sad to know that it’s your mother’s birthday, but she isn’t around any more. Sorry to hear about Michele’s Dad and Michele herself - I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you’ll soon find a surgeon who takes your insurance. A very American problem!
Hello, Zen Prole (clearly it is David Letterman who is the idiot and not Fidel Castro’s son), Robert B. Livingston and Rosemarie from a pleasantly warm (77F) Daylesford. Have to attend to some quite tedious typing now but will call in again tomorrow.
Have a good afternoon/night!

ED W. FROM FLUSHING,NYPosted by ED WYSOCKI on from FLUSHING,NY 02/21 at 08:12 PMHello again - to all those who commented yesterday and to Joe of Maine and Ed Wysocki from Flushing. Must say all Beatles songs also cheer me up.
Back to some tedious typing of often illegible trial notes ..
Farewell from a cool and at times wet Daylesford to all of you.
