Hi Helga, from yesterday´s post of yours, the American empire didn´t begin with the acquisition of the Philippines, it began with the acquisition of America. I´m not laying the blame by Americans for this, for those who run the country are about as American as sauerkraut.

Leonard Peltier’s treatment is like a number of others. Natives simply don’t rank very high on official lists of priority. At least in Canada that is changing, albeit slowly. We shall see what our new regime brings to the table.

RMJ: it’s great to hear that you’re receiving support from previously unknown places. As for this ‘bloodthirsty sociopath’ who’s calling for your torture - I checked it out and he does seem like a nutjob. I find it interesting that he gives no basis or reasoning for his indictment, he probably wouldn’t be able to answer the question and so didn’t bother to ask himself before running off at the mouth onto his keyboard. (Mudge - some of your fellow Texans unfortunately fulfill all the stereo types! Luckily we have you to balance the scales in that regard)

Good day Helga, you remind me that last night on the ‘news’ I saw a report about teenagers and their backyard wrestling get togethers. Not only do these kids all speak as though they were dropped on their noggins as toddlers, they presented no logic for their get togethers other than recreation, and they are not wrestling at all..it is a fight club of sorts! They’re beating each other with 2x4’s and smashing fluorescent bulbs on one another, landing on nails, thumb tacks, etc. If there’s a Tyler Durden in the bunch, he kept quiet during the bit I saw. Disturbing, to say the least

Cart, Thanks for that Vermont link. There are quite a few of those Impeachment Resolutions going around up here. I just signed one on Saturday. Most of them are non-binding resolutions. One purpose of them is to get our Socialist Congressman Bernie on board and get him to offer an Impeachment resolution. He will be running for the Senate so possibly has concerns about not wanting to alienate any voters. The mind of a politician is usually fairly easy to diagnose. They base most of their decisions on the number of votes that it will gain or lose for them.
