Mickey Z. vs. Santa

Posted by Mickey Z on 12/14 at 05:17 AM
  1. Mickey you Christmas-hating anarchist! I just saw a shorter version of this on NY1 tv:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNE0os3f3VY

Joe Kennedy Citgo commercial. Figured RMJ would appreciate it, even if she can’t view the video. Very surprising to see this. He even mentioned that it’s coming from the company owned by the people of Venezuela. “Some people think it’s bad politics to do this, but I think it’s wrong for anyone to be w/o heating oil,” something like that.

Check with you later about stuff…

  2. Mickey...great article. I can’t see beyond page 1 right now ‘cause my computer is doing a scan. I will check later.  I think I agree with most of what you say, BUT (there’s always a but) is Christmas really worse than NASCAR, football, soccer, yachting, golf, etc. All abuse the environment. All distract from important issues.  What’s the difference between a religious fanatic and a Red Sox fanatic? What am I missing here?

JOS...I think “Pink” also did a video but I don’t think they used the Fisk photos as a background. I don’t know since I can’t see videos.

James....thanks. What else did it say. I love Hugo. Yesterday when the oil delivery man arrived I asked him what the price was. He said it had just gone down. It had been $3.39/gal but yesterday’s price was ONLY $3.30.  My bill for yesterday was almost $600. It’s going to be a long cold winter for many up here. Joe Kennedy and Hugo are giving 100 gallons to those who qualify.

About video...has anyone seen the new one by Mike Gravel??? Amy Goodman played part of it this morning. It is great. Gravel and Kucinich were excluded from yesterday’s debate.

I will now go out and continue to shovel. It is very deep out there today.

  3. With apologies for the self-promotion, but I just found this on the Dwinell Report. It has been there for a year but I just saw it and it made me laugh.

“...Vermont AP’s relatively new bureau chief, John Curran, caught the attention of the “Best of the Web” this week with his generally sympathetic coverage of anti-war activist and Liberty Union’s recent attorney general candidate Rosemarie Jackowski. He quoted Jackowski as saying, “I’m just a little old grandmother who has been really, really affected by the fact that my government is bombing children in Iraq.”

She is not just another little old grandmother. Her being a member of the Socialist Party of America probably sets her apart from ninety-nine percent of the other grandmothers. Her being convicted of a crime, recently sent back to the local courts by Vermont’ Supreme Court, probably sets her apart from most grandmothers as well...”

  4. Good morning Mickey and everyone...Mickey...It looks like you have a very good upper cut...however, I did notice in the photo, the mini blinds need repaired. I enjoy your december commentaries.

  5. Hey Mickey, I need to borrow the gloves, or maybe one of your roundhouse kicks. I’m gonna blow if one more GD driver, on his/her way to the GD store, to buy GD xmas presents, throws me a comptempt filled look for walking in the street.

YES idiot FFFFFFing driver; the sidewalk is BLOCKED by snow and ice, so I’m in the street.
    Get over yourself!

BTW, when I saw Bald + Boxing gloves, I thought of Butch from Pulp Fiction.
    Zed’s dead baby!

  6. RMJ...2...If we have oil...if oil companies executives were not so greedy and corrupt, with 7-8 digit salaries...I can’t believe gasoline or heating oil should be any more than 25 cents a gallon.

  7. Keep those knockout punches to that fat-#### in the red suit coming! He’s the perfect example of the excess and overconsumption this holiday season really represents (as well as everyday life in this “mall of America"). Hopefully more people will get honest about what a pain in the ass this holiday season really is and stop participating--but I’m not holding my breath…

  8. Hello Expendables. Thanks for the great feedback. I gotta admit that the photo shoot was really fun. I kicked and punched Santa for about an hour.

How’s the weather up there, RMJ? It’s really warmed up here.

Tommy, love the Pulp Fiction reference. I think that was Willis’ best role ever...by a mile.

    Hey James and Buddhamonkeydevil.

Joe: I really have to get those blinds fixed, huh?

  9. Love that rock ‘em sock ‘em photo Mickey!

I grew up in a military family.  We actually had to move once on Christmas day.  We opened some presents in the morning and threw them away later because there was no room in the car.

I love Christmas-- but I have a secret.  I no longer watch television and I avoid shopping.

I love to watch and marvel at the joy and confusion of people caught up in the ritual-- where one can hardly miss the bittersweet pathos of those who are left behind, but yearn to participate.  They often still manage to generate their own excitement-- even if hardly noticed.

I love Hans Christian Anderson’s story about the little matchstick girl… and O. Henry’s Gift of the Magi.

I love Linus pontificating about the real meaning of Christmas.

I love the master paintings by Giotto that illustrate the Christmas story.

None of which may have mattered as much to us had an English king and his wise men not heard a story about a bird that flew in one window out out another, which they called good.

I ‘m convinced that there are more dimensions to this universe than we know-- and that the threshold for clear understanding and health is “are we promoting life?”

  10. Mickey...I think the blinds do need fixed...more important, I like your idea of giving something to people who get little attention from anyone and who truly need kindness, a meal, a pair of shoes, a hat, a Hug…

  11. This is about christmas, so watch this movie on May 11.

A Christmas Carol...Charles Dickens...every damn year we see a man transcend his violence, his greed, his selfishness and eventually shares his life, lovingly with those around him, his family, and employees. I like the original version of this movie, this parable illustrating human’s potential to attain a higher level of being… consciousness, awareness beyond the influence of any human impositions and laws to control and manipulate behavior.

Scrooge confronted himself, his negative thinking, his insensitivies, his anger and hatred toward others, his greed. Some teachers referred to this process as self-observation, self-remembering…

Every year this message is made available for capitalists and other people to watch, to contemplate, to learn from. This is the mind shift needed to change how we relate to others that is so very necessary

Scrooge, moved beyond his ego, that said, he needed to be correct, he needed to be in control, denying others...to a man who became fully aware never to return to the old scrooge that was. This is the only thing about christmas I can recommend...so not to confuse with other effects of this season...watch it during another season...spring is good.

  12. Great sound bite, MZ: “two of the worst self-inflicted wounds of humanity: religion and consumerism.” That whole “HATER” label is a joke, though - don’t hate the playa, hate the game.

Q: Why come you didn’t get a photo gallery? That marathon-kilowatt domestic disturbance got four shots next to your piece. I’d rather have seen the intro ("Let’s get ready to GRRRRUMBLE!") and the ref counting out Saint Nick.

A nod to Tommy for the Pulp Fiction quote. I liked the OD sequence at Lance’s house the best.

  17. So, if you criticize Christmas and hold a small charity party - you are a hater.

On the other hand, if you bomb the shit out of another country, generally #### up the environment etc. etc. you can be a peace maker.

Damn I love this world smile

  18. Here’s a good ole fashion rib tickler...I saw a brief blip of john kerry questioning another criminals integrity, kerry stating he represented the american people. It’s a great way to piss another day’s tax payer’s money down the drain.

  19. while blood pressure is up...who the hell is george mitchell? What does this character have to do with baseball drug users and Northern Ireland.

How, why has he gotten involved with steroid users and any peace process in Ireland?

His name has also come up about the selling of Maine to large corporations.

James from Hell’s Kitchen...do you think we oughta do it?

Posted by joe of maine  on  from 12/15  at  10:36 AM
  20. This is what g. mitchell did for Nestle Co. Nestle also bought out Poland Spring water of Maine and there’s reason to believe Nestle is getting FREE water to sell for large profits.

The House of Representatives passed a measure by Representative Eliot Engel and Senator Tom Harkin that would have mandated a federal system to stop the sale of slave-produced chocolate in the US. As Engel said, “If we can have our tuna fish dolphin-free, we can have our chocolate slave-free.” Fearing the effects of such a system on its bottom line, however, the industry hired former senators George Mitchell and Bob Dole to lobby against the bill. They succeeded in stopping it, but had to accept a compromise.

    What compromise???

  21. Jesus! I just read the entire TONY article.
That woman in Howard Beach makes me ill.
Reminds me of the House on Pelham Pkwy up in the Bronx.

My wish; that the cops who direct traffic at these houses stay home this year. I’m sure we’d see some real xmas spirit then, eh?

I apologize if that sounds like support for Hobbesian state power.
Just sayin the cluster F__k would be fun to watch.
    Just this once…

  25. Yeah Joe, prosecute George Mitchell, makers or crappy American chocolate as well as Spezio and anyone that left nasty comments on Rosemarie’s piece on Dissident Voice.

Anyone ever see/read C.S. Lewis’ Screwtape Letters? It’s playing down the street from me and I’m thinking of taking my mom to it for Christmas. Yeah yeah yeah… but it looks like an interesting story.

  26. Hi everybody...I take a couple hours off to go to the dentist and away from the computer and a fight breaks out at DV. I don’t even know how to begin to address all of the issues they brought up, and to make matters worse, I am a bit incoherant now from the dentist’s laughing gas. I did leave his office with a smile on my face even after he gave me a bill for $1600. for one tooth repair.
Thanks Robert, joe, James, Mickey and all for coming to my defense. (I do agree with one criticizm. It is a sugary article, unlike most of mine and the last one - ‘Hi Tech Torture Weapons’. It even surprized me. I think that my thought processes have been influenced by my new 11 month old friend, a really cute little boy I am taking care of.)

  29. Very cool on the Time Out deal, Mick.

RMJ, your best move would be to ignore that mess over at DV, but that’s just my opinion...all you need is one raving moron like Gerald Spezio to absolutely insure that nothing constructive will come out of it.

The only thing I like about Christmas is that I get together with my family.  My mother is heading to Egypt this year...on a Canadian-run tour...by herself.  I think it’s great.

    Catch you all later…
