New article, new mouse, new Texas plans

  1. Hey!  Watch what you say.  Sure, the US might abuse people, take them to the edge of death and back (remember, it’s not torture if you didn’t mean to hurt them), but they would never, ever, ever deface a book!  No way! Uh Uh, No siree Bob!

  2. Coming through Texas tomorrow of Friday, eh? Then I guess you’ll miss all of the actions planned against Halliburton’s war profiteering, which takes place this morning here in Houston. And check this out: “The Ronald Reagan Home for the Criminally Insane” is one of the sponsors (see http://www.insanereagan.com/ for info)... Anyway, your “healthy activist tips” might prove to be useful as I march today—thanks, I’ll be sure pass the word along!

P.S. - Hope your mom is well, and have a safe trip to the “strangest state in the union”...

P.S.S. - A bit of trivia: there is a “Texas Embassy” in the UK (in London), but it’s actually a Tex-Mex restaurant with that name. Still makes me wonder, though…

  3. I hope everything turns out well for your mom, mickey.  I know how much of a pain the whole hospital/health care situation is from when my dad was dealing with his cancer.

By the way, I am not so sure Newsweek got it wrong...Juan Cole (http://www.juancole.com) has some good commentary on the subject.

And on a good note, the Yanks have won 10 in a row.

  4. Mickey, I didn’t understand this, “...It’s quite an adjustment...but my choices are limited: This contraption or going left-handed with a traditional mouse...” It is interesting to me because I am left-handed but can only “Mouse” with my right hand. I even use my right hand when doing some not-too-bad art work in the Paint program. I don’t know why. I use my left hand for everything else......I have been thinking about your Mom and how bad the Medical care delivery systems are in the U.S. One of my best friends just became an ex-pat in Costa Rica because of the better access to medical care there.  We are worse than a third world country here, We have the rescources, the wealth, and some of the technology but we sure don’t know how to use them. Vermont is moving toward Universal Health Care. It is the big discussion in the legislature but I will believe it when I see it. Many Vermonters go to Canada for medical and dental care.  Prayers are still going for your Mom.

  5. Again - the best to you and your mom, Mickey. We’ll all be thinking of you both.
You watch yourself down there, eh?

  10. Sorry to hear that your mother is facing these difficulties, Mickey. What a bright spot to have someone like you, who cares enough to be there. That might be just the kind of power that cures best. Love and healing energy to you.
