Nick Mamatas interviews Mickey Z. (Summer 2004)
When I stop training, my mental health declines and I find it harder to think my way out of frustrations. I also think there’s a moral component to being able to defend oneself and, possibly, ones communtiy. Pure pacifism is a strategy that doesn’t always work. Wanting an end to violence is admirable, and avoiding it whenever possible is too. But there are people and there are times when you really are cornered and your aggressor’s reason has failed.
I read something a while back called aikido activism, which made a lot of sense to me. Perhaps there’s a way forward in it.

Many of my comrades pull a complete 180 if I challenge them in any way, re: what they eat, health issues, etc.
The site you suggested, Harry, talks about leaving a more shallow footprint. That’s what I’m all about.
Good to see you back here, Harry.
