happy birthday michele
Posted by michael on from scotland (in exile again) 11/26 at 09:48 AMHappy Birthday, Michele and hope you all had a great holiday. Great article interview, Mickey… I’m at a new job in midtown today, this should really help things… !
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 11/26 at 10:17 AMHappy Birthday M.
Count me as one for whom this issue has never strongly resonated.
Don’t get me wrong, I do love animals and am down with the notion that the lack of compassion is often used here with a relative slant. After reading the interview, I am left with a question.
As I understand it, potential adoptors are subjected to quite rigorous screenings.
I understand that the objective is to eliminate potential abusers.
But it would seem that this process might also disqualify many worthy people.
Is this policy ultimately wise?Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.
ThanksPosted by Tommy on from I live by the River 11/26 at 11:52 AMHAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICHELE. Michele, the spelling of your name is a bit unusual. Years ago, my brother and his wife named one of their girls ‘Michele’. My brother insisted that it have only one ‘L’. My brother then spent a lot of time over the years cutting the second ‘L’ out of personalized things. It is very hard to find something that is personalized with your name and only one L. Have you noticed that? Hope your birthday is one to remember!!!
Diane’s statement about working a day job to pay the rent, but having her heart and soul someplace else - the universal tragedy of our time. Maybe it is the universal tragedy of Capitalism.
James...how’s the new job going?
michael..."in exile” - I share your mood.
Tommy...that is a hot topic these days since the Ellen Degeneres fiasco with the dog being taken away from her hair stylist. Have you followed that discussion? Some said the same thing that you are saying.
Posted by RMJ on from Mickey Z 4 Prez Hdqts 11/26 at 02:35 PMHey Rosemarie and everyone-- it’s pretty good here. Will have to wait and see about the exact pay and duration, but the work itself if cool, not overtly directly involved in marketing anything anything evil and harmful and… ah, who’m I kidding? We do the layout and design production for print ads for hollywood movies. Would it be worse if I were working for Pfizer again?
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 11/26 at 03:26 PMHello Expendables...from rainy Astoria. Thanks for all the nice wishes for Michele. They brought a smile to her face.
Good luck with the new gig, James.
Tommy: Thaks for your honesty. I’d like to reply but can’t now. Hectic, stressful day here.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 11/26 at 04:59 PMRMJ...It appears so many people are completely overwhelmed with just getting through any given day, the pressures of wark, the dynamics at wark, family problems, neighbor problems, too many bills to many incoherent conversations to respond to...are we becoming increasingly insensitive, playing out the ‘dog eat dog’ role, that many people take pride in subscribing to?
I have known people in the anti-vivisection groups, animal rights...problem...other life forms, too, are exposed to an uncivilized, man-defined society. The same uncivilized society comprised of incoherent people, normalizing ever worstening levels of behavior...cyclic...this must lead to an implosion.
Getting emails, law is being considered, law is up for vote, law has passed...who knows which...just speaking, just thinking can be defined as terrorism...and who defines terrorism...the criminals, the mindsets that have created all the above mentioned...control...an illusion...problem...takes to long to verify to the general public whose thoughts are on...?

Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 11/27 at 09:45 AMJames..8...Thanks James, I’ll look at that later...I really need to do something for my tension this morning..Rx...the feds control the printing presses that make the pictures of dead presidents...so much could be done to help this pathetic society with very little effort...the childish selfishness and apathy that largely prevails is inexcusable. The base plantation mentality of working environments goes ignored for what it is...acceptance...tolerance, coping...how large does the fire get before we choose to get out...just to go to another fire??? America is becoming more evident for what it always has been...a disgrace to all life!

I was not aware of that story. I won’t comment since it involves a celebrity, television and all that drama.Anyway my question is who is or is not allowed to adopt.
I have never tried to adopt a pet for various reasons.
I’ve moved alot, and have gone through various phases of responsibility, thus never feeling quite up to the task.
Plus, most of the places I’ve lived have precluded pet ownership.I can imagine, though, a day when I might consider the prospect.
Would I be denied? Probably, if going through official channels.
Or at least that is my impression.Posted by Tommy on from I live by the River 11/27 at 12:05 PMRMG, do check out the Insubordination cartoon, it’s a good one. Which “I” are we?
Tommy, not sure about policies for being denied pet adoption from yesterday’s interview article or mainstream adoption agencies, but there’s lots of places to adopt a cat or dog from if you want to-- just don’t ever buy one from a store, there’s never any excuse for that. If you live in NYC now, cats seem to have a way of finding you, not the other way around, as has happened with me three times now.
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 11/27 at 12:20 PMHi all...adoption of humans is a big issue too. I would have liked to adopt a couple of young ones but I never met the income requirements. Now the big controversy is around USA’rs going to poor countries and adopting from there. I have come to believe that that is usually not a good thing to do. It seems cruel to me to separate biological mothers/fathers and their children. Too often the baby goes to the highest bidder and that’s often some rich family from the u$a. I wonder why those rich folks don’t “adopt” the whole family - contribute to their support- and allow them to live in their native country.
James...are you doing anything at work to promote “Redacted”?
Posted by RMJ on from Mickey Z 4 Prez Hdqts 11/27 at 04:38 PMJames #11...You are so much more advanced that I was when I was in the work force. You are my hero. My first act of insubordination occurred on March 20, 2003. I was arrested for it. That is the day I was liberated.
Posted by RMJ on from Mickey Z 4 Prez Hdqts 11/27 at 04:44 PMTommy...10...An older man adopted a Monkey years ago, named Rubin. Rubin is great, affectionate, intelligent, pure consciousness.
This particular Monkey is raised to help people with certain disabilities and they can live with other people if no need for a disabled person? Rubin has lived with this man for 21 years. Very strict rules to comply with to have one of these Monkey’s live with you. I feel very confident this man is a very good friend to Rubin as well.
