There ain't no Dubya in NYPD

Posted by Mickey Z on 07/22 at 06:25 AM
  1. That was hilarious stuff, Mickey, especially the running Dubya!!!  Last year for the fourth of july the media said the same thing, it was ridiculous.  Look out for people with baggy clothing, sweating, looking suspicious, and with wires sticking out.  It got me asking myself “am I a character is someone’s cartoon series???” cuz this shit seems pretty comical.  Anyway, when’s your book There is no Good War coming out, man?  It’s still not out!!!

  2. Thanks, RB. I just spoke to Sander at Vox Pop and “No Good War” is being pushed to the front burner, as they say. I’m not thrilled that i will once again have two books hit the stores at the same time (it happened last year, too)...but I trust that both books will find an audience.

Anyone interested can pre-order either book by using the links in the right hand column>>>>>>>

  3. Going after Bush for his dangerous clenched fists is just the type of innovative methods we need to end this “war on terror.”

  4. Thanks, Michah. You know me: always on the cutting edge of the avant garde.

  5. The sad thing is, practically ALL human behvior could be considered “suspicious” if you look at it long enough; even just sitting still doing nothing could be considered “suspicious”... But things like this just give law enforcement the unrestrained ability to violate people’s rights at any time for any reason (which they will if they are allowed to do so). And the usual victims will likely be poor people and minorities - especially anyone that might fit the description of “terrorist” (Muslims and Arabs most generally).

ahhh… what to do about the increasingly authoritarian tendencies of this country…

  6. You’re right, Mickey - The NYPD will almost certainly find no terrorists.  And, they will certainly find a vast variety of “sins” concealed within the backpacks of ordinary citizens.  And this, also certainly, is the only point - to have the right to detain, search, question, even arrest any of us at any time, without all those pesky civil liberties problems.  Slowly but surely, they’ll turn our world into one immense forced labor camp… for our own safety, and with our dis-informed consent.

Malcom X once said:  “Don’t be shocked when I say I was in prison; you’re still in prison!  That’s what America means - prison.”

  8. Malcolm X. had a point there. When someone told me I have one foot in the insane asylum I said they were wrong; it’s both feet.

    But I’m aware of this.

  9. RE RT’s comments, I don’t have the infor on hand, and maybe, I am getting some details wrong, but I remember reading at one point that someone had done a study of the evidence presented at a busy metropolitan courthouse in one calendar day and found that, in different cases, law enforcement had claimed that someone looked suspicious, and thus could be searched, because they appeared to be in a hurry to get off of a plane, they didn’t not appear to be in a hurry to get off a plane and they were in the middle of the majority of people who were getting off the plane.

  10. couldn’t believe the cops are “randomly” checking bags in the subway...when I say random, I mean that the only people I saw searched looked of arab descent. Everyone was asked their country of origin on the plane ride here as well, but only people of color were asked for proof in the form of an ID.  Now I am starting to see where things might be going....
