"There are some things that help"
Morning All == Quick answers to yesterdays Q’s and comments regarding our Random - 8… 1) James on MS.......I was diagnosed at age 54, though looking back, many of the now-realities began appearing in my 40’s. I got conked on the head alot - hard blows playing Catholic League Football. Also jumped and was dropped from not so low places in my late teens. 2)Michael on third born...First born like father...Second born like mother… Third born is peace-maker - responsible one....Fourth born is garbage collector - represents the real chaos in every family - not what the family portrays....but what is really happening in family......Fifth born restarts process as a first born - Is it all numerology - Is life ordered according to the Fibonacci Math Principle?? 3)Geee = there sure seem to be a lot of Catholics in the Expendables...Well at least we can continue our dialogues in He**()() = opps I meant heaven = I beat a kid up - older then me the day before 1st Communion in 2nd grade..NO..I was too afraid to go to confession that Saturday Nite...with all adults...and no nun to click-click the attention getter clicker in her hand… So… HellHounds have been on my trail ever since the 50’s...Go figure...I wonder if the Priests I know who married x-nuns after I finally confessed in third grade, will join me in the Sulphur Pit?? Oh yeah...I said the Our Father and 3 Hail Mary’s - but the kidd had it coming...and we later became buddies.... Come to think of it...That may be the moral to MICKEY’S SATURDAY POST == BE You ! None Other == Listen to your Dad and mother == Help your brother(s)—play a game of TWISTER with your Sister(s)...Do Favors for Your Neighbors == and Maybe - JUST MAYBE == ST PETER WILL LOOK AT YOU ON JUDGEMENT DAY ---AND SAY == “Sure sounds alot like me - kidd—E N T E R == BUT TRY THE HELL TO STAY OUT OF TROUBLE == OR ST MICHAEL (or Mickey Z) WILL HAVE TO KICK YOUR ASS.......”

Posted by Richie on from st cloud / n ft myers 07/07 at 09:01 AMHello Expendables...from hot and sunny Astoria. Richie, I’d like to take a moment to say that I’m really glad you’ve decided to make this a regular stop. Your comments read like one-act plays that encourage audience participation. Thanks.
On another note, many of you probably know today is when the “Live Earth” nonsense takes place. Here’s all I need to know about Gore’s bullshit: Online coverage of the events is sponsored by Chevy…
(http://liveearth.msn.com/concerts/US?)Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 07/07 at 09:31 AMAlso, as far as I could see, there was no mention of the meat-based diet at the Live Earth site. The only thing this silly event will do is launch Gore’s presidential campaign.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 07/07 at 10:03 AMMickey, I agree...I’m ready to start the impeach Al Gore campaign...one can never be to early.
If there was any integrity among U.S. politicians, they would all voluntarily walk to their gallows!
Posted by joe of maine on from 07/07 at 10:33 AMExcellent idea, Joe. We should elect, impeach, and indict them all at once to save time and energy.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 07/07 at 11:05 AMI agree with Kurt Vonnegut’s son saying people have to help each other.
I can’t speak for Kurt’s son, my definition of helping each other is not necessarily by a Paid service.
I think we or most of us have normalized an isolated living condition where what we communicate and who we communicate with is limited and fear based, lacking trust most often.
It most frequently appears easy to justify such a level of distrust...I question this and will ususally disagree with any arguments about this. In fact I stopped trying to debate fore I don’t have all the answers and people won’t learn until they really want to.
A supportive group of people understand by now, American, predatory society requires each other to be more understanding, compassionate, empathetic.
I think we need to listen to what is not spoken so as to be better listeners and better, caring friends. Even if one is trusting, many times people have a difficult time expressing what is really going on inside. I have experienced this numerous times and this makes it easy for me to displace my disconcerted self by making witty references to getting ropes and looking for a tree. However, I do love trees for other reasons.
I have very limited money resources and I will say people cannot put money between themselves and others well being. Money can represent the last ditch ability to have any kind of physical freedom for some and unconsciously really stir things up when it comes to money and perhaps parting with money. Theodore Isac Ruben wrote about the psychology of money but knowing what he wrote isn’t helpful because he doesn’t go into the roots of fear enough. Only the individual can look into themselves to unload the unnecessary stuff.
I think an intentional community, 3, 5, 11, whatever, people, and initially, I think it will take like-minded people who have established a fellow feeling with a common bond developed by expessing the most intimate of feelings will be necessary and will teach, show by example to to thers less familiar how people can relate beyond the ordinary...I believe can work. It will require each other to support each other in resolving any personal stuff that influencing the group. I stress helpful, NOT manipulative, assuming there is already a great level of understanding each others plights and previous experiences from living in such a dishonest society.
I agree with Kurt Vonneguts’s Son.

Joe- in response to your question the other day-- I am not exactly sure what I meant (I was very sleep deprived).
On the surface, everything in the U.S. seems business as usual (in the mainstrream AND the alt-stream)-- but then there are some uncomfortable facts: the relentless inflation at the grocery store
and this:

http://tinyurl.com/34jkswPosted by Robert B. Livingston on from San Francisco, California 07/07 at 02:03 PMIs everyone feeling lucky today? I’m not, but my flicker views hit 1,777 today - an interesting coincidence.
Robert #8...your first link there is very interesting. I have always thought that there was a great rush to judgement in cases like that. No more is anyone innocent until proven otherwise. The increasing hatred of Muslims and anyone who is not exactly like the rest of us is a major problem.
joe #7...I think you are describing “family”. We, many of us, need to be adopted and to adopt others in a family-like way. The culture in the usa is so sick and divisive that it has all but destroyed many families. I know that many family situations are still intact but many others are not. I have a theory, not sure of it yet, but it seems from my observations that family relationships of the blue-collar workers seem to be better than the more elite college educated crowd....just an unscientific observation from this old factory town.
richie...when I was a kid, the priest that heard our confessions was legendary for shouting so loud in the confessional that everyone was afraid to confess to him. Everyone would line up on the other side to confess to the other priest.
mickey...Thanks for the Vonnegut quote. He is almost as good as Churchill.

Posted by Richie on from st cloud / n ft myers 07/07 at 04:51 PMJust wanted to call in briefly on this Sunday - normally Sundays are ‘computer-free’ days, but never mind ..
Another great quote, Mickey - reading your books also helped me through life.
And hello to Richie, Joe of Maine, Robert B. Livingston and Rosemarie. Got to run now ..
Captcha ‘groups’: The expendables are my favourite group.Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 07/07 at 11:15 PMHere’s the headline of a story found on VA Watchdog website, linked from a Veteran Advocate website.
‘VIETNAMESE TROPHY SKULLS HAVE YET TO BE
RETURNED—The skulls had been confiscated from
U.S. soldiers who were trying to bring them home
as macabre souvenirs from Vietnam in the 1970s.’I found the above headline while searching for a Veteran Advocate group to possibly help me with the problem I am having with the local VA Hospital.
The local VA Hosital has an onsite advocate group that you must pay an annual membership fee to. Their job is to help you with VA claims. It’s amazing the various angles used to make money by holding the fear of one’s well being over their head!
We continue committing atrocities to maintain so many avenues designed to generate profits from war and slaughter.
The entire U.S. system is an act of crime and genocide against all life everywhere!
Posted by joe of maine on from 07/08 at 10:32 AMHello again, everyone. Joe of Maine sez: The entire U.S. system is an act of crime and genocide against all life everywhere!
As they say in South Florida: Bingo
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 07/08 at 10:35 AMHappy Sunday to all the Expendables. First, some music in Kurt V’s memory: http://tinyurl.com/2gno7w
Re: Livingston’s link to Bageant message & how could a neurosurgeon with wife and child, etc: I’d pay Euros to read a similar story about USG personnel- “He was such a nice boy in high school, playing intramural soccer and working at the ice cream stand. He went on to Yale, then a JD at Rutgers. Now I read he’s in the dock at The Hague for his role in torture, and I just don’t buy it. Why would someone with a wife, kids, and a mortgage do such a thing?”
On the other hand, there’s the Palestinian lawyer who strapped a bomb to herself and pulled the ripcord...but she had seen multiple family members slaughtered by the so-called IDF. She didn’t earn “why?”, but the Swedes who made artwork about her did. My imperial morality calculator just broke.
If “Children of Men” is still on anyone’s movie list, kick it up a notch. Michael Caine’s Jasper is priceless. Also worth adding is the doc “The Take,” even if it’s Naomi Klein, who I am allergic to. It’s a rare, closer look at Argenitina’s struggle.
In the “corporate funding saves the Earth” file, try this: http://tinyurl.com/ywkv95 Their roadshow came to my university a while back and I said “Hmmm...?” just before I barfed.
I’ve run on too long. And this CO entry is kinda wordy, too.
