Top Ten Campaign Slogans for Barack Obama

Posted by Mickey Z on 01/30 at 05:23 AM
  1. Am I really the first expendable, Mickey?  You must an early bird, seeing you posted at 5:23 am, which is 9:23 pm on the same day.  At this moment in time it is 9:58 pm on a Tuesday evening, and it is still quite warm.  Re Barack Obama:  I could not agree more with everything you say about him.

    Keep raising hell please!

  2. A few corrections: You must BE an early bird’ and then .. ‘on the same day in Australia.’ Apart from that, it sounds all right!  Must be due to the slightly advanced hour ..

  3. I haven’t paid much attention to the candidates so far, but the last point, about them selling themselves to corporate sponsors really bugs me. It was talked around in a NYTimes article yesterday, so I’d been thinking about it. Drives me crazy. All we need is for them to get signing bonuses for wearing logowear, and the picture will be complete.

  4. Hi everybody,
I´m superbusy this weather, what with music, book, new squatular activities and turtles, though I can post at length soon enough.
    be well,
    xo

  5. Hey, I just started reading Rogue State again, and man, is it ever a blast! Is Killing Hope as much fun as this? If so, I might just go out to Coliseum books and pay full price for it…

  6. Hi James, owen, Helga, Deb, and Mickey.
James...About Killing Hope, Helen Caldicott says, “Each chapter I read makes makes me more and more angry”. I think that Blum is the world’s greatest living historian and probably one of the most under-appreciated writers on the planet.

Deb...It is not only the money connection that gets to me but also the media keeps bringing up the “experience” issue, like that’s the only thing that counts. Bush has experience. Cheney has experience. Rumsfeld has a lot of experience.

    Some say that Hil
    Will fill the bill
    Others wanna
    Elect Obama
Those who still think in the box
Should listen when Ward Churchill talks

  7. How would a Churchill/Blum ticket sound to you? Or is Blum too busy writing?

  8. Ahhhh Churchill/Blum, that would be one thing that just might save the planet. I can picture the debates if Churchill/Blum participated. No one else would stand a chance.

  10. I read up on Josh at the infoshop during the last letter writing party. I was so disturbed. And today I was catching up on some democracy now podcasts (finally got to the burt sacks one - it was excellent) and listened to one where they talked about minot, nd, a train derailment there 5 years ago, and how the clear channelling made it impossible for the city to get information out to the public. So disturbing.

Oh, and about the experience of the candidates? I was thinking about that....what kind of real experience did Shrub have? governor of texas, and that’s it. (well, and bankrupting several companies) I’d rather get someone intelligent with ethics, and that probably eliminates all politicians.

Morning everyone! Cranky and cold in nova.

  11. How about: “Obama: at least he’s not Hillary!”

Ftr, the only one out there now that I’d consider voting for is Kucinich.

  12. Hello Expendables. It still feels like winter in NYC but I see this joint is busy Baracking in the Free (sic) World. Good stuff...and Deb, I just might steal that “logowear” line.

RMJ mentioned the Nader documentary. He was on one of the insipid morning TV shows today and got ripped in New York magazine this week. I think I smell an article brewing.

  14. Thomas...I supported Kucinich a few years ago but then he flip-flopped and supported the war. Never again for me. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice.....

Mickey #13...They used the wrong word, should have said Chavez is a threat to predatory capitalism. The presidential “decrees” giving additional power to Chavez have been criticized by the usa government. What a farce! Bush has an executive order allowing him to assassinate usa citizens. Recently when questioned about this, Condi assured the reporters that it was all very legal. The usa government admits to openly assassinating at least one usa citizen. And WE criticize Chavez, we should all be so lucky to have a president like the Venezuelans do.

  15. Barrack Obama: same shit, different package.

Rosemarie, I don’t think Kucinich specifically supported the war. I think he made the odious decision of supporting the Democratic [sic] Party’s nomination of whateva against Bush in 2004. Kucinich if I recall correctly has been pretty consistently against the invasion and occupation of Iraq (as well as against the Patriot Act, etc etc etc). What can I say? He’s one of the least uninspiring politicians in the US government.

That all said, I wouldn’t even vote for Jackowski if she were running as a Democrat!

William McDonnough says less bad is still not good. True!

  16. And while I’m on about William McDonnough, here’s a question of his:

    “How do we love
    all of the children
    of all of the species
    for all time?”
