URL jam
Good morn, MZ.
I picked the link for RMJ of course (an excellent article, as always)
Anyway, here’s my mystery link for the day: ‘Protest Against Brutal Repression in Mexico’: http://tinyurl.com/hsfcz
Posted by RT on from The Buyou City 05/09 at 05:47 AMHello Expendables! How weird is this: The captcha oracle for this post is “remember,” as in “remember me?”
Dipping in because it’s been too ong. I won’t pretend to catch up. I really loved RMJ’s piece in the mystery links. I think this is a fine basis for a third party: “Do you agree with 90% of what you read here? Welcome to the Social Justice Party of Murrica, the long-time-coming third path through the mires and shoals of human nature.”
Skuld the Norn is jabbing her scissors in my butt to get me back to telling her story. I leave you with a pithy quote:
“We either make ourselves happy or miserable. The amount of work is the same.”
--Carlos Castenada, mystic and author (1925-1998)Posted by Mudge on from Austin 05/09 at 09:09 AMMudge! What’s up, my friend? Great to hear from you...stay around a while.
Hello, RT…
I loved RMJ’s article.

He is doing so in appreciation of her Senate record. Wait, I thought she was a liberal?
Posted by Commando JOS on from Chicago 05/09 at 11:02 AMhi Mudge, long time no type.
Posted by owen on from barcelona 05/09 at 11:33 AMHillary Clinton makes good use of the gap between the philosophical liberalism many her of supporters would like and political liberalism as it actually is: mean spirited utilitarianism. It’s not so different from the minarchist conservatives who routinely elect big government control freaks.
Posted by J. Alva Scruggs on from 05/09 at 12:37 PMHellos to MZ, RT, MUdge,JOS, owen, and Mr.Scruggs. Thanks for the nice words around here today.
Mudge, everyone is missing you....better not stray so far next time. Where’s Amelopsis, Youngfox, Kier, and everyone else. I just read something on Drudge....says that the USA ranks second worse in the deaths of newborns. Shame on us. Makes you wonder when the masses will rise up and do something about the way that things are. I have been receiving e-mail from my friend who relocated to Costa Rica because she had a toothache and needed a dentist. (I love to tell that part of the story.) She is buying fresh pineapples there for 25 cents. Here they are $4.00. Mostly she tells me how the quality of life is so much better there. All of the locals are kind and friendly and ready to lend a helping hand. The comparison to the culture in the USA is remarkable.
Well, I’m just rambling along today and not saying anything important. I have been painting the porch and have decided that I like the smell of fresh paint. Maybe I have been getting too many paint fumes to say anything important.Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/09 at 01:32 PMHello RT, Owen, Commando, Señor Scruggs, RMJ, and the Prodigal Mudge™. Welcome back, my friend. Now, where the hell is Joe, Luna, Old Glen, Hawk, etc.?
P.S. Thanks for the links, RT and JOS.

Click on the micro or on ‘show transcript’. Not only in the US .. Our PM is going to pay a visit to DC later this week btw - GW Bush is one of his best chums.
And ‘hi’ to RT, Mudge (soo good to see you back), JOS, Owen, J.Alva Scruggs and Rosemarie.captcha ‘probably’: there will probably be less rain in Daylesford today ..

Posted by michael on from exile 05/09 at 05:29 PMMiss you all, v busy, fantastic article RMJ. Hope to check in with more substantive comment in the near future. Meantime keep it up everybody. RE: question, does property destruction = eco-terrorism: only when opponents of eco-terrorism do it, apparently. As for tactics I prefer creative rather than destructive solutions, but I don’t know if there are any rules. Nice thing to think about from Derrick Jensen: “What are sane and appropriate responses to insanely destructive behavior?”
Posted by Keir on from The Hague 05/09 at 05:34 PMHi Helga, michael, Keir and all...The property destruction question has bothered me for a long time. I think Abbie Hoffman said that it was OK. I don’t know. I guess I agree with Keir and wish that there was an effective alternative such as boycotts...That’s a good Jensen quote. I guess the real question is what is the proper response to 500,000+ dead children. When I think of them property destruction does not seem so bad.
I just heard from Joe. He says, “HI” to everyone. I think he is very busy working hard.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/09 at 05:49 PMHello again everyone...welcome Michael, Helga, and Keir. Has anyone read the letter Iran’s president sent to Bush?
http://tinyurl.com/nkd8qPosted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/09 at 06:21 PMGood evening Expendables,
Good to see a bunch of regulars here on my late arrival.
On the property destruction I think my mushy opinion tends to lean with the way Keir put it. I could think of worse things, but I’d rather that people’s energy and desire for change be put to a more creative outlet that is more peaceful than destructive. What exactly that is....$64,000 question (any one remember that show...he had a microphone the size of a walking stick)
I digress....
One link only so far - RMJ: great piece; so much opportunity for us to grow using multi-media as a conduit, but instead there’s supermodel drama and the fabricated love life of Flava flave.
Mudge - I’m presently reading “Tales of Power” by Castenada - synchronicity at work that you should quote him today. (Pithy indeed.)
Hi to Every Expendable and thanks Mickey...I’m off to check more links now

Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/09 at 06:35 PMThe President of Iran has greatly misunderestimated King George. An eight page letter? He only has 2 1/2 years left in office. How the hell is he supposed to finish reading that letter in such a short time?

How the hell is he supposed to finish reading that letter in such a short time?Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/09 at 07:56 PMMickey,
I have read excerpts from the letter Iran’s President sent to GWB - which is more than one can say about your Prez.‘The President of Iran has greatly misunderestimated King George. An eight page letter? He only has 2 1/2 years left in office. How the hell is he supposed to finish reading that letter in such a short time?’
Thanks for making me laugh, Cart!
