We're winning the war on terror

Posted by Mickey Z on 08/29 at 05:47 AM
  1. Short and sweet, Mickey.
(what’s the password for this place again?)

It never ceases to amaze me how easily people forget these malicious milestones like the unPatriot act and accept them and ‘move on’.  Makes it much too easy.
    Disturbing, to say the least.

  2. Good morning to one and all.

Mickey, GWB says if you are talking with the terrorists, he wants to know.  What I want to know is why so many Americans are on speaking terms with these ‘folks’.

Has there been any indication on the number of calls intercepted between U.S. citizens and members of the world wide terrorist ring?  Why haven’t these American traitors been arrested or perhaps they have been and are being held in secret?  But, if that were true, wouldn’t there be an outcry of protest from their families and loved ones, if they have any.

How many plots have be aborted since the inception of this practice?  Why isn’t the government announcing how successful this has been in the war on terror?

The questions just keep on coming and coming.  Anyone with any answers?

  3. Good morning Mickey and Amelopsis…
You produced another good article here today, Mickey. It sort of ties in with an e-mail that I just received. The e-mail was a petition against providing Social Security benefits to workers from other countries. It ties in with your article because both are about the mis-information that consumes the usa. I think that we now have passed the saturation point because this petition was from a left-wing, anti-war, progressive, “informed ?” source.

“They hate us for our freedoms.” “The workers (I refuse to use words like ‘illegals’ or ‘aliens’) are bleeding the system.” “We are perfect”. “We are good, they are bad.” “The rich got their wealth because they work harder and are smarter than the rest of us.” “Our culture is superior to the rest of the world because a bikini is better than a burka.”

  4. Hi Canadian Observer…
I love your second sentence there. It does seem odd that so many have frequent chats with the terrorists. I wonder what they talk about. Most people that I know don’t have time to call their family members on a regular basis. Maybe they are too busy exchanging small talk with the terrorists.

  5. Good morning Rosemarie.

I love this: “Our culture is superior to the rest of the world because a bikini is better than a burka.”
So true, I mean you can’t very well work at Hooters if you’re all hung up on wearing a hijab, now can you?!

What’s sad is that for as many of us who decry this idiot logic, there are as many who really believe it.

Canadian Observer, what I want to know is on what basis is an individual determined as being a member of a ‘terrorist’ group? Lots of questions do keep coming, but are we mindful about asking the right ones?

  6. Hi Amelopsis… I bet that even a Canadian would prefer a Burka to a bikini in February.

Also, you make a good point. What is the definition of a “terrorist”. I like Blum’s definition. A terrorist is just someone with a bomb and no airplane.

  7. Hi everyone! Congrats on the new grandchild RMJ!

Back from my country visit. It was refreshing and confirmed for Wife and I that it is what we want to work towards in the coming years.  I really miss the night sky here in the city. It’s a tragedy how cut off we become to that one simple overwhelming spectacle.  Got me thinking of the different projects out there to reclaim it. Just google “reclaim night sky city” to see what I mean.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

  8. Hello cranky Expendables. More rain in Astoria today.

If you click on the article link in today’s post, you’ll find it provoked two comments at Infoshop. One of them includes this line: No one really likes the current system. But few believe anything better is possible. It’s our job to show them it is.

  9. Intersting comment from Anon.  I wonder: Do “few believe anything better is possible”, or do many believe that anything better will be made impossible?

  10. Resplendent articulation as always, Mickster.

RMJ Big heartfelt congrats on extending your gene pool further into history!

  11. Thanks. Luna.

OK Youngfox, now you did it. I wasn’t going to show a photo but I accept your challenge. Here’s the 12 hour old Expendable for your viewing pleasure. Just goes to show you what a great gene pool this is.

  12. Ahhhhh, now here’s a debate worth watching.

Youngfox, brain cells and the universe do look alike. Great photos you have there. I think that there are a lot of geometric similarities in nature. Some sea shells have always facinated me, think of the nautilus shell. Bugs and leaves are very similar in appearance…

  16. RMJ- Laura Ann is a Beauty...thanks for sharing smile

I fear that the likes of the Z from #14 only throw out little clusters of wisdom like that looking for encouragement.  Anything worth saying would have been said in the same comment.  (who knows...I could be wrong)

  17. Hello friends...and RMJ, thanks for the photo. A big Expendable kiss to Laura Anne. As for the “Z” in #14, I assure you I am not related.

  18. Oops - sorry RMJ - I left out the “e”.  I’ll you be holding my breath waiting for that debate - although it would be a treat!

  19. Hey, where are all the other Expendables?

  20. RMJ

Off topic, but have just visited you & your daughter’s flickr sites and was bowled over by the great shots.  The pictures of the grandchildren are especially nice.  I tried to leave a comment on one of the Montreal photos but somehow was restricted.  My daughter lives in the Plateau area, very close to where your daughter & her family spent July, and works in the building where the statue of the boy & girl sitting on the bench is located.

Sorry to use this form for personal remarks to Rosemarie, Mickey, but I didn’t know how else to reach her.  Please forgive me.

  21. CO, your last comment is very much what this board is all about: community. Absolutely no need to apologize. You’re an Expendable.

Empress: Odd trend here lately. Traffic increasing during a traditionally slow time period (late summer) yet comments are only trickling in, relatively speaking.

  22. I’m still in the same situation, can’t leave comments or read here much during the day at work, and feeling overwhelmed with personal stuff besides… great to see everyone else here as always.
