Why wait till 2012?

  1. Mickey, I’m clicking on the link to your PLanet Green post and it says, “Page Not Found”.

  2. I’m not sure why, Mike. It’s working for me. Anyone else?

  3. It’s working for me now.  I am assuming it’s fixed.  Good article.  Got some great links on there as well.  I feel like I could spend an hour just on one of your articles alone.  And I’ll never think of Godzilla the same way again.

  4. Thanks, Charles. That’s music to my ears. Although I fully realize that 99.9% of readers won’t have the time or focus to click on all the links, I still create these posts for that tiny percentage who will click on everything and spend an hour.

I hope everyone can access the link now. Please let me know if you can’t.

  5. Serious rains out here these days - a river just to the north was barely under flood stage. Impressive to see (call the pun police!). High winds, too.

Haven’t seen 2012, and don’t intend to. However, The Road finally appears next Wednesday...a little light viewing for your collapse season. (captcha sez ‘without’)

  6. Good to see you, Zen. It’s raining here, too...but nothing major.

  7. Hi Mike, Charles, Zen, Mickey, and all…

Mickey, I voted. I really like the ‘love’ poem - so true!

Today I have been receiving messages from some buddies.  A hunger ‘strike’ is planned for Thanksgiving to protest the new drone base near Syracuse. Imagine having coffee with your family, then going to the ‘office’ in bucolic upper New York State. You send the drones to slaughter innocent civilians. When your shift is over you go home to watch TV with the kids. And they call these guys ‘heroes’.

    WAR IS NOT GREEN

  8. Hi all, greetings from a sunny afternoon on the edge of the desert…

I have just been reading Keith Farnish’s “Time’s Up” - a great book urging activism right now, on the off-chance it is still possible to avert utter failure of the biosystem.

If you haven’t come across it, it can be downloaded (as “A Matter Of Scale") or read on books.google. Or bought on amazon.

I urge all to have a look at it.

As I write this I am hearing a plastic surgeon on the radio talking about a proposed new tax on cosmetic surgery....apparently he demands it be stopped as it "unfairly discriminates against women, as they are the recipients of 85% of procedures". Is there any better indication that the end is nigh?

Oh - now there is a report on the battle to keep Monsanto’s GMO sugar beet (a $3 billion industry...) from being planted. Apparently the court has ordered the USDA to do the full environmental assessment - which could take years. The commercial growers (95% of the crop nationwide is now gmo “roundup-ready") are claiming that is “more ecologically sound” as it requires “less applications” of biocides...and arguing that they must be allowed to plant as there is nowhere near enough non-gmo seed available to plant next year. If only they could have stopped at the bit about “full assessment”.

    2012? I prefer this

  12. Good stuff, Andy...and thanks for including a few of my links.

Michael: I’ve swung back and forth as an REM fan but overall, they do have a pretty impressive collection of songs...especially during their first decade or so.

  13. Hey Mickey, it was having the links that inspired me to put up the posts - as there was somewhere to go for people who were newbies to the idea but also could read something hard hitting and with links too.

  14. That is the way i feel about REM too.
