"Worse than you imagine"
“what the government is actually doing is worse than you imagine.”
Corporate america, long ago destroyed the self-contained community...oil, rubber, auto industries forced people away from local living, employment, to traveling long distances to make a ‘living’?...to slowly die into a depression and disconnectedness. Now there are those who bite into the corporate crap and applaud auto makers who are exploiting the save the environment, peak oil, green hype...wait till you see repair prices for these cute little hybrids. There were autos that got 40 miles to the gallon 80 years ago...and gengis george wants auto makers to get 35 miles to the gal by 2020...make sure they’re less user friendly and ownere serviceable so auto industry can rape you and with their extended warranties for dollars nonsense that are telemarketed daily.
An effort to recreate these self-sufficient communities, in some form, I feel is important...election day and political winners will not care about restoring humanity and life support systems. Blum is correct, I feel cause we continually adapt to worst levels of insanity and normalize this shit so that the smallest amount of bread crumbs tossed to us seems like a feast…

The Lakota Indians, who gave the world legendary warriors Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, have withdrawn from treaties with the United States, leaders said Wednesday.
“We are no longer citizens of the United States of America and all those who live in the five-state area that encompasses our country are free to join us,” long-time Indian rights activist Russell Means told a handful of reporters and a delegation from the Bolivian embassy, gathered in a church in a run-down neighborhood of Washington for a news conference.
Posted by joe of maine on from 12/21 at 11:02 AMLove this comment…
“We’ll drive expensive SUVs to our own societal funeral because we’ve kept the rest of humanity so impoverished that when poor children perish from malnutrition in distant hopelessness, their parents can’t afford even a donkey cart to take their bodies to the graveyard.”
I don’t have children and I can’t afford a donkey cart…

Turner: Boy, what is it with you people? You think not getting caught in a lie is the same thing as telling the truth?
Higgins: No. It’s simple economics. Today it’s oil, right? In ten or fifteen years, food. Plutonium. And maybe even sooner. Now, what do you think the people are gonna want us to do then?
Turner: Ask them.
Higgins: Not now — then! Ask ‘em when they’re running out. Ask ‘em when there’s no heat in their homes and they’re cold. Ask ‘em when their engines stop. Ask ‘em when people who have never known hunger start going hungry. You wanna know something? They won’t want us to ask ‘em. They’ll just want us to get it for ‘em!This exchange takes place at the end of Three Days of the Condor.
I think it sums up the US and most of its citizens.
They prefer not to know.Posted by Tommy on from I live by the River 12/21 at 12:32 PMHi Tommy...here’s some stuff you might find interesting…
Posted by joe of maine on from 12/21 at 12:56 PMThanks for that link Joe.
I’ve don’t pay much attention to Gore or anyone else in power who speaks to the climate issue.
I should say, I don’t need to.
My imprint consists of little more than my own existence.Hooray for the Lakota nation. I hope they don’t suffer violently from the Fed Gov in the process.
Or any more so than they already have.Posted by Tommy on from I live by the River 12/21 at 01:22 PMYeah, Tommy...that’s what the article was about, the weakness of gore and his speach to the climate people...say this, do that, reduce emissions but continue war and reckless consumption of unnecessary stuf…
Posted by joe of maine on from 12/21 at 01:25 PMHere are some statistics the bush Klan will be proud of...and perhaps members of the skull & bones chugging team will have a chuckle as well…
The latest figures from UNICEF on the children of Iraq reads as follows:
- 2 Million Iraqi kids this month are DIRECTLY threatened by disease, illiteracy, violence and famine.
- 25’000 kids are displaced each month and are susceptible to getting killed .
and do not forget the Bingo, Jackpot, Luck charm number for your holiday seasons,
-5 Million Iraqi kids are orphaned . OK Let me spell it for you again. ORPHANED. That means, they lost BOTH parents.
Posted by joe of maine on from 12/21 at 04:14 PMDo you have a link for that, Joe? Stats only seem to go up to 2005 on the page I was looking at. I’m at work still, not much websurfing time.
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 12/21 at 05:05 PMHi James, Joe, MZ, and Tommy. Before I go off-topic, I wanted to add “You’re not special,” “There’s no help on the way,” “Your spouse is cheating,” and “Starbucks is coming to your block.”
James, that FedEx heist is tres cool. At first blush, I’m thinking the hoods knew what they were looking for - why else cart the driver around? Reminds me of ‘Heat,’ which has two awesome heist sequences, plus Henry Rollins in a small role.
Off Topic: Rockline, which unbelievably is still around, replayed the Rush interview from the “Snakes and Arrows” release, and it had this gem:
Polite Fundie Caller: “The lyrics to ‘Faithless’ say “I don’t have faith in faith / I don’t believe in belief” Do you think that’s OK?”
Geddy Lee: That’s not all. The next lines say “I still cling to hope / And I believe in love.” And those things are important.
Game, set, match, and big amps to the trio from Canada. http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/rush/faithless.htmlFor fun (or not): http://www.enemybook.info

Posted by joe of maine on from 12/21 at 06:22 PMHello James...I believe the stats were somewhere at this link...or mentioned separately among web sites.
The quote I posted was from Uruket. This link has lots of stats.
