Every down-dog has its day

Somehow I missed this story over the summer. Apparently, some U.S. soldiers have taken up yoga as a way to reduce stress, and get this: each class ends with a chant for peace.

Oooooh...the irony makes me swoon...

“I’ve tried to drag some of my [military] friends to class, but I get made fun of. It’s not necessarily considered masculine,” said one yogafied Marine. I wonder: What is masculine to someone like him? Perhaps taunting a thirsty Iraqi child:

Back to the yoga warriors:

“At first it seemed a little shocking—soldiers practicing such a peaceful art,” said one yoga teacher...but she quickly got with the program: “War is hell, and if yoga can help them find a little solace, that’s good.”

Do your tree pose...or the terrorists win.

Chalk that up as reason #65,859 why we stand virtually no chance of ever turning this mess around.
