Film recommendation: "At Five in the Afternoon"

Michele and I joined Rich and Lisa yesterday to see “At Five in the Afternoon” (inexplicably, it was showing at 4:30) at the American Museum of the Moving Image (AMMI)...right here in ultra-hip Astoria.



Directed by Iranian filmmaker Samira Makhmalbaf, “At Five in the Afternoon” is not only excellent and moving...but it’s also a small glimpse at life in a nation under siege: post-Taliban Afghanistan. A peek at those living where the bombs dropped and continue to drop.
