Book 'em, Dano...
As the world crumbles around us, I’d say it’s the ideal time to pick a book for our Expendable Read-o-Mania I.
I nominate Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk.
To help get everyone else into that fuzzy book-nominating mood, I’ll offer some tome-related words of wisdom...starting with the very revolutionary Mr. Marx.
So, light up...and read on:
“Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, of course, it’s too dark to read.”
(That would be Groucho, not Karl)

Sir Francis Bacon sez: “Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested.”
(Hey, who snuck the bacon onto a vegan blog? Mudge?)
Northrop Frye sez: “The most technologically efficient machine that man has ever invented is the book.”
Albert Camus sez: “After all manner of professors have done their best for us, the place we are to get knowledge is in books. The true university of these days is a collection of books.”

Dubya sez: “One of the great things about books is sometimes there are some fantastic pictures.”
Emily Dickinson sez:
“There is no frigate like a book/To take us lands away.”
Henry Miller sez:
“A book lying idle on a shelf is wasted ammunition.”
Franz Kafka sez: “Books are a narcotic.”
So, my fellow Expendables...pick yer poison. Is it gonna be Fight Club to start things off?
