Lots of quotes ... "Ask the Nominee" ... Criticizing critics ... Fight Club plans ... & more

(for Joe)

“Critical” thinking…

Aristotle sez: “Criticism is something we can avoid easily—by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.”

Richard Pryor sez: “I never met anybody who said when they were a kid, ‘I wanna grow up and be a critic.’”

+++

Dalai Lama sez:
“People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they’re not on your road doesn’t mean they’ve gotten lost.”

Do you have a question you’d like to ask Supreme Court nominee Alito?

+++

Galileo Galilei sez: “I have never met a man so ignorant that I couldn’t learn something from him.”

+++

Albert Camus sez: “The evil that is in the world always comes of ignorance, and good intentions may do as much harm as malevolence, if they lack understanding. On the whole, men are more good than bad; that, however, isn’t the real point. But they are more or less ignorant, and it is that we call vice or virtue; the most incorrigible vice being that of an ignorance which fancies it knows everything and therefore claims for itself the right to kill.” (from The Plague)

Fight Club/Book Club

Can I get a roll call for reading and discussing Fight Club? I’m assuming Mudge, Joe, Amelopsis, Hawk, Hawk Sr., Chris, Jim S., and James from Hell’s Kitchen are in? What about RMJ, Michael, RT, Cart, Mew, TM, Owen, Keir, Helga, Rev. Joe, Youngfox, SK, Old Glen, Luna, Nancy, Peter (the Other), Harry, Hope from Denmark, Editor Mom, Christine Hamm, and of course, JOS? (Plus anyone else I’ve carelessly omitted and will later ask to forgive me. You’re all welcome.)

Also, when should we start discussing the book? How about two weeks from today...Tuesday, January 24?

Tyler Durden sez: “I just don’t want to die without a few scars.”
