Dubya's suggestion, Vonnegut's retort, IndyMedia party, & what will Cindy Sheehan do in 2008?

So Resident Bush has got it all figured out, re: hurricane-related oil shortages? All we peons need do is cut down on our driving.  “We can all pitch in,” he said on Monday. “People just need to recognize that the storms have caused disruption.”

Get on your bikes and ride…

I remember during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999, there was a report on WBAI on the enormous amounts of oil needed to pull off such a war crime. So, how about the military “pitching in” by calling off the damn war?

(Thanks to Michael Greenwell)

Can anyone point us to numbers on how much oil it takes to wage two wars and satisfy our oil addiction?

Kurt Vonnegut says:
“Can I tell you the truth? I mean, this isn’t the TV news, is it? Here’s what I think the truth is: We are all addicts of fossil fuels in a state of denial. And like so many addicts about to face cold turkey, our leaders are now committing violent crimes to get what little is left of what we’re hooked on.”

(Above quote from Vonnegut’s latest, “A Man Without a Country,” which I am reading now and highly recommend)

Protests: The beat goes on…

Check out how many of these images from last weekend’s protest are more anti-Bush than anything else:

Jordy Cummings (http://purepolemics.blogdrive.com) says:
“Imagine if instead of hundreds of thousands of hippies, there were hundreds of thousands of teeming masses, all wearing the same thing, or at least the same color. Imagine if the march was military style, not parade. The rallies should be less about fun, more about showing a sense of militant power.”

This was my favorite image from the weekend:

This shot of Cindy being courted by the opportunistic status quo was the worst:

INFORMAL POLL
How many think Cindy will endorse a Democratic candidate for president in 2008?
