My cousin's pet turtle liked to eat frogs

But first: Please join me in congratulating Rosemarie Jackowski on the birth of her granddaughter, Laura Anne.

Once upon a time...
When my aunt and uncle moved to the suburbs of Long Island, it gave my family a chance to get out of the city on the weekends. My cousin and I would walk to this place he called “the sump” to catch frogs.
We’d bring ‘em back to his house and keep ‘em in the window well of his basement. I got the bright idea to put a tiny dab of silver paint on their backs so we could release the frogs and track ‘em.
Clearly, I was watching far too much television at that point…
Our biological experiment came to grinding halt when we discovered that my cousin’s pet turtle loved to eat frogs. It was easier and a lot more fun to watch the huge turtle catch them in his little pool than to engage in a long-term study of silver-backed frogs.
Yes, boys will be boys…
Who else wants to spin a yarn?
