The Bush-Clinton Dynasty
“No matter what one thinks about events that have unfolded in Iraq, there is no doubt that the American military has performed admirably, with professionalism, and that every young man and woman who wears the uniform of our country deserves our support, whether they be active duty, guard, or reserve troop.”
—excerpted from a speech by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton at the May 2005 American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Policy Conference
“In the eighteenth century,” Gore Vidal once wrote, “opinion was dispensed from the pulpit and schoolroom. Now, the media are in place to give us opinion that has been manufactured in the boardrooms of those corporations—one national, now international—that control our lives.”
Vidal then focused on the “unmentionable”—America’s ruling class...and how the members of this class typically attend the same schools. “This sort of education,” he explained, “insures that everyone so educated will think alike.”
“They all think alike.” The ultimate conspiracy theory.
So, if things go as planned, we will have had either a Bush or a Clinton in the White House from 1988 to 2016...and then there’s always Jeb.
(Who’s next in line? Jenna or Chelsea?)
T-shirt idea for 2008:
What? It’s time to enjoy the fruits of democracy already? Wow, four years sure do fly.
How about this t-shirt for whoever wins the 2008 Democratic nomination:
I’m not a liberal...but I play one on TV
And finally: it’s never too early to prepare for presidential politics:

NOTE: I had prepared a cynical/comical post, re: Dubya and the hurricane...but I’ve put it on hold. The situation is far too dire (http://www.wsws.org/articles/2005/aug2005/katr-a31.shtml) to appear flippant. Then again, as bad as things are in Louisiana, Mississippi, etc., can any of us imagine daily life in Iraq (where much of the National Guard is, thus hampering relief efforts here at home)? So, to return to today’s theme, elect Bush or elect Clinton but outside of style points...it’s all the same to 99.9% of the planet.
Imagine how many hurricane homeless could fit in the Bush mansion in Maine:
