Truth, justice, and all that other stuff they teach us in school

That Fox News ad (see post below) got me thinking about facts...and truth...and the system that wants to send Lynne Stewart to prison:

“Facts are stupid things.”
-Ronald Reagan

“I will never apologize for the United States of America. I don’t care what the facts are.”
-George H.W. Bush

“History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.”
-Winston Churchill

“You don’t tell deliberate lies, but sometimes you have to be evasive.”
-Margaret Thatcher

“It’s not a matter of what is true that counts but a matter of what is perceived to be true.”
-Henry Kissinger

“If I know the answer I’ll tell you the answer, and if I don’t, I’ll just respond, cleverly.”
-Donald Rumsfeld

“That’s not a lie; it’s a terminological inexactitude. Also, a tactical misrepresentation.”
-General Alexander Haig

“The road to tyranny, we must never forget, begins with the destruction of the truth.”
-Bill Clinton

(That depends, of course, on what he means by “truth.")
