Upper East Side Morning
Good morning, it’s Storytelling Saturday
Once upon a time...
She waits impatiently for the homeless man to finish rummaging through the garbage can so she can stretch her hamstrings on the nearby light pole...before her morning run.
Him: late 40s, black
Her: early 30s, white
He pulls out an optimistically half-full cup of coffee downs it without a thought. She cringes. . . not many creases on her face: at least three years away from Botox.
Walking north, a Jamaican nanny pushes a white baby in a stroller.
Walking south, a Haitian home health aide assists an elderly white woman with a walker.
Our runner gal sees neither. . . sighing and huffing as her eyes scan for a different place to stretch her toned legs.
