Only 14 shopping days until Xmas

I’ll meet you at the mall. I hear there’s a big sale on conformity and denial. What a bargain: Buy one, get one free.

On my holiday shopping list:
A surfing vacation in Cleveland
A new ocean or two
A safe place for gorillas
Maybe a whole new eco-system?

Helen Caldicott sez: “We have become addicted to our way of life and to our way of thinking. We must drive our cars, use our clothes dryers, smoke our cigarettes, drink our alcohol, earn a profit, look good, behave in a socially acceptable fashion, and never speak out of turn or speak the truth, for fear of rejection.”

Fidel Castro sez: “The prodigious advances in science and technology increase daily, but their benefits do not reach the majority of humanity, and fundamentally continue to be at the service of an irrational consumerism which squanders the earth’s limited resources and is a grave threat to life on the planet.”

Gandhi sez: “A certain degree of physical comfort is necessary but above a certain level it becomes a hindrance instead of a help; therefore the ideal of creating an unlimited number of wants and satisfying them, seems to be a delusion and a trap. The satisfaction of one’s physical needs must come at a certain point to a dead stop before it degenerates into physical decadence.”

Anyway...please allow me to be the first to wish you a Merry December (with yet another article).

P.S. Happy Birthday to my Dad...
