Paint is thicker than blood
Oscar Wilde sez: “When liberty comes with hands dabbled in blood it is hard to shake hands with her.”
On Wednesday, October 24, a 51-year-old anti-war protestor named Desiree Ali-Fairooz—her hands stained red—confronted Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at a House hearing. Ali-Fairooz thrust her faux-bloody hands at Rice, accurately calling her a “war criminal" and correctly informing her that she (Rice) had the “blood of millions of Iraqis" on her hands.
Before she was arrested and charged with assault on a federal officer (and three other counts), Ali-Fairooz smeared her painted hands on the hallway wall.
As if to sum up global human culture in a single sentence, one newspaper report ended on this line: “A crew painted over the marks.”
Reminds me of this Harry the War Criminal Truman anecdote

Head’s up: Michele and I are flying out tomorrow to be with my parents in Texas for a few days. I plan to do some posting and commenting from there. I hope you’ll all continue to gather and chat in my (relative) absence.
