Time to give up Chuck
I came to the Chuck Palahniuk “cult” (http://www.chuckpalahniuk.net) a little late in the game. After seeing the film “Fight Club” in 1999, I immediately read the book...and was hooked.
Over the next few years, I read “Survivor” and “Invisible Monsters” and, while I didn’t think they were as good as “Fight Club,” I was not deterred. Then came “Choke,” “Diary,” and “Lullaby” (probably not in that order) and I began to get the feeling Chuck was running on fumes.
This week, I decided to give him one more try with his latest, “Haunted.”
I couldn’t get past page 50 or so before I gave up. Anyone else read that one? Your thoughts on Palahniuk?
(Yes, I realize I might be flamed by avid Chuck fans...but before that happens, let me go on record as saying that if you haven’t read or seen “Fight Club,” I’d strongly suggest you do so.)
