Will any of these gestures make a difference?

Marches, rallies, candlelight vigils, voting Democrat, radical websites, protests, prayers, petitions, message t-shirts, joining the local food co-op, letters to Congress, meditation, scholarly articles filled with six-syllable words, recycling your paper and plastic, demonstrations, radical radio, hunger strikes, voting for the Green Party, chanting, getting a PhD, radical publications, clever bumper stickers, going vegan, voting, cynical lists like this.

MLK sez: “Cowardice asks the question: Is it safe? Expediency asks the question: Is it politic? Vanity asks the question: Is it popular? But conscience asks the question: Is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it simply because it is right.”

NYC Event Alert:

I’ve been asked to read as part of the monthly Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood reading series on Thursday, June 12 (8:00 pm) at Happy Ending Lounge (302 Broome Street).

Details and specifics will follow soon but for now, it will be me and three writers to be named later. The event is free and I just might be reading from my upcoming novel.

Hope you’ll save the date and/or spread the word…
